On a holiday in Italy, he longs for a boy he sees on a beach and writes the story Death in Venice.

Historia
Epic prelude to the classic spy trilogy Game, Set and Match that follows the fortunes of a German dynasty during two world wars. Winter takes us into a large and complex family drama, into the lives of two German brothers - both born close upon the turn of the century, both so caught up in the currents of history that their story is one with the story of their country, from the Kaiser's heyday through Hitler's rise and fall.

Such a CLASSIC
Revisado: 01-23-20
I’ve read this book twice since buying it the year it was published. What a pleasure to have the actor James Lailey narrate it for me this time. It’s a fabulous story especially the way it covers WWI and WWII so accurately. The entire 9 Bernard Sampson book series and Winter are still my favorites in the historical fiction/espionage genre!

No one could be a better narrator than John Le Carre himself! What a treat!!! Also, I see that the author has a firm handle on our current American president and his motives!
