Truly enjoyed this book even though I know nothing about Iran or its culture. The author masterfully paints a story and its characters. Great narrator.

Historia
On a chilly November night in 1407, Louis of Orleans was murdered by a band of masked men. The crime stunned and paralyzed France since Louis had often ruled in place of his brother King Charles, who had gone mad. As panic seized Paris, an investigation began. In charge was the Provost of Paris, Guillaume de Tignonville, the city's chief law enforcement officer - and one of history's first detectives. As de Tignonville began to investigate, he realized that his hunt for the truth was much more dangerous than he ever could have imagined.

Fun, fast paced and engaging

Another great book by Jager. I loved the characters, the back stories and all details of life. I never knew medieval France was so interesting!
Side note: I don’t know why so many people beefed about the narrator’s French pronunciations- I thought he did a good job with pace and emotion. No issues from my end.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

In the midst of the devastating Hundred Years’ War between France and England, Jean de Carrouges, a Norman knight, fresh from combat in Scotland finds his wife, Marguerite, accusing squire Jacques Le Gris of brutally raping her. A deadlocked court decrees a “trial by combat” that also leaves Marguerite’s fate in the balance. For if her husband loses the duel, she will be put to death as a false accuser. While enemy troops pillage the land, and rebellion and plague threaten the lives of all, Carrouges and Le Gris meet in full armor on a walled field in Paris.

At first I REALLY didn’t like this book. I wanted to quit; Eleanor annoyed me and it seemed ridiculous. Then slowly, magically it came together. It made sense. Very touching, unexpected. I loved this book. Might even read it again!

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

Innovative format that works
Revisado: 09-04-23
Multiple actors narrate their different characters in a choppy pace of interviewing, documentary style audible. Kept my attention from page 1 to finish. Good story, great delivery. I’m not sure if I’d like the written page - but it works perfectly for audible. Loved the Easter egg of other book characters coming into this one.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Narration was spot on. I am a better, more informed person from reading this book… AND I was entertained along the way.

Original story with robotic performance
Revisado: 08-15-23
The narrator was both appropriate for the storyline, but also robotic. It’s a meandering story about two gamers and their friendship - how it develops from children to middle-aged adults. Lots of gaming references and verbiage.
I liked the various methods in the storyline - unique and original writing. The different points of view were done beautifully.
…But at the same time, I was hoping for something better all the time.

Historia
Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes - meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven. But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Revisado: 06-08-23
Outstanding narration - nailed the voice and cadence of Jane. I really enjoyed Jane and her attitude. I even liked the cat. The story is fast moving and engaging. You won’t want to put it down. The ending is a bit ho-hum, but honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. All around great summer audible that I couldn’t stop listening to.
