Historia
The summer in question started out with hot, fun-filled days and new friendships. We had just turned thirteen and had our whole lives ahead of us. But that was before her. Before we became known as the Hixton Five and our lives become defined by one night. It’s hard to believe twenty years have passed since she was locked away. But now she’s free and strange things have started to happen. When I close my eyes, the creeping anxiety and fear is overwhelming and all too real. Because the monster is back, and I know she has a score to settle with us.

The details and expressive emotions were so real.
Revisado: 06-18-24
It was hard to hear the pain and agony of the woman and those injuries that happen in war, but I was drawn in and felt like I was there

Terrible Times
Revisado: 01-18-24
It was wonderfully written. One felt like one was right in the midst of the emotions and battles taking place. As a writer it was a masterpiece, but so very hard to listen to the cruelty of those people who are hell bent to power. Man’s inhumanity to man.

I found it sad they didn’t have firm faith
Revisado: 11-01-23
I thought it was rather odd that these people who were going to preach Christianity to others did not have a firm faith. James had a calling to preach yet was not sure about God? They leaned so little on Christ I think they were just as wishy-washy in their faith. It did not compute for me. I hope those who are leaders in the church will rely more on the Scriptures and back up their beliefs. Perhaps that is why so many churches are going under today. They don’t truly believe and trust. For this reason I did not care for the book.

Historia
Fran finds her standing by the swings. A little girl, Esther, no older than seven years old, by herself in the dead of night, her pretty but old-fashioned yellow dress covered in grass stains and her hair dishevelled. She says she's waiting for Father, and that strikes Fran as particularly odd. After Esther is reunited with her family, Fran can't stop thinking about this pious child whose imaginary friend is God. Fran's instincts tell her something is very wrong. Why does Esther keep running away from home, and how did she get that bruise on her leg?

This was a very confusing book. Time jumped from one era to the next without clear boundaries I am still not clear on what happened. Disappointed.
