When Jamie and Kirsty move into their first home together, they are full of optimism. The future, in which they plan to get married and start a family, is bright. The other residents of their building seem friendly too, including the Newtons, a married couple who welcome them to the building with open arms. But then strange things start to happen. Dead rats are left on their doorstep. They hear disturbing noises, and much worse, in the night.

I Thought This Book Would Never End! Hated it!
Revisado: 12-03-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This story could have been told in 10 chapters at the most but it dragged on for 30 endless chapters that were boring and entirely too detailed. I had guessed the end by the first few chapters. The narrator was quite good. He sounded like Jude Law but the story just got on my nerves. Ugh. Save your money!

Historia
A best seller in its native Canada, Drunk Mom is a gripping, brutally honest memoir of motherhood in the shadow of alcoholism. Three years after giving up drinking, Jowita Bydlowska found herself throwing back a glass of champagne like it was ginger ale. It was a special occasion: a party celebrating the birth of her first child. It also marked Bydlowska's immediate, full-blown return to crippling alcoholism.

Loved This Book!
Revisado: 12-03-14
If you could sum up Drunk Mom in three words, what would they be?
Buy This Book! For anyone who has ever fought an addiction, loved someone who is an alcoholic/addict or if you've just ever wondered what the heck makes someone drink to the point where they have destroyed their lives, you have to read this book. The story is of a young, nursing mother whose alcoholism slowly progresses, as most addictions inevitably do until her life has become unmanageable. She is not a lover of AA and is quite opinionated about her attempts at recovery and the lengths she will go through to hide her disease. She prides herself on her ability to function and believes herself to be a good mom. A must read for anyone who works in this field, especially CPS. Well written and well narrated.

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Sweet Love Story
Revisado: 11-09-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Two kids who meet in a cancer support group and fall in love. Sweet story. I was a bit disappointed that it was so "G" rated. I guess I was looking for the next "Twilight."

What did you love best about Little Mercies?
A CPS worker whose job it is to rescue children from abusive, neglectful homes, makes a mistake that will change her life forever and will force her to walk a mile in the shoes of the abusers she's rescued children from. The story is good from the beginning. I loved it!

Historia
This audiobook could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments that prove reality is malleable, consciousness trumps matter, and you shape your life with your mind. Yes, you read that right. It says prove. The nine experiments, each of which can be conducted with absolutely no money and very little time expenditure, demonstrate that spiritual principles are as dependable as gravity, as consistent as Newton's laws of motion.

This Was Fun!
Revisado: 11-09-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
While I was listening to this book, I did all the exercises and positive things happened for me. One day as I was walking down the hallway at work, I FOUND a $50.00 bill. Coincidence or was it because I changed my focus and expected good things to happen? I don't know. But this was fun! I'm going to listen to it again!

Historia
Will Marion has two perfect kidneys. His daughters aren't so lucky. Question is: which one should he save? Will's 47. His wife bailed out when the twins were in nappies and hasn't been seen since. He coped OK by himself at first, giving Georgie and Kay all the love he could, working in a boring admin job to support them. Just after the twins turn sixteen, Georgie suffers kidney failure and is placed on dialysis. Her type is rare, and Will immediately offers to donate an organ.

Ho Hum
Revisado: 11-09-14
What would have made The Donor better?
A set of twins who both need kidneys raised by a single man without a job. No money, no prospects. Their mother is a drug addict and her kidneys aren't an option. Dad can't spare two. He has to decide which kid he wants to donate to. One kid is loveable, affectionate and adores him. The other is disagreeable, hostile and hates his guts. Who will get the kidney? Is there any way he can save them both? He considers suicide so that he can save them. By the end of the never ending story I just didn't care. It was too long and too boring.

Historia
The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power, it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal, a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts, in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat, of personal triumph won from loss.

Donald Sutherland Could Read Me The Dictionary!
Revisado: 11-09-14
What did you like best about The Old Man and the Sea? What did you like least?
This was my first time listening to a classic on audible and I really enjoyed it. Man vs the Sea. I loved hearing how much respect this old man had for the sea and the creatures in it. It was mostly a man thinking to himself, alone, out on the open sea, trying to catch the biggest fish of his life. I doubt I would have been able to get through this book but Donald Sutherland kept my interest. I was glad I listened to it.

Sad and Beautiful
Revisado: 11-09-14
Where does The Grapes of Wrath (Dramatized) rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This was so good! There were many recognizable voices to represent each character. This family struggled so hard to survive and went through so many trials and tribulations. I'm not sure I would have been able to get through the book had I read it, but listening to this soundtrack kept it interesting. This was my first time listening to this classic and I was shocked by the ending.
