Historia
This tiny town, where 17-year-old Grey spends her summers, is the self-proclaimed Psychic Capital of the World - and the place where Elora Pellerin, Grey's best friend, disappeared six months earlier. Grey can't believe that Elora vanished into thin air any more than she can believe that nobody in a town full of psychics knows what happened. But as she digs into the night that Elora went missing, she begins to realize that everybody in town is hiding something.

Historia
The vast plains of South Dakota offer Tarin solace from both his dreams of an unknown past and the rumblings of a new global war. Yet a haunting melody plays over the stillness of the grasslands, a melody he cannot escape—one that seems hungry to force him to . . . remember. When a stranger dressed like a medieval traveler enters town, the already nervous community responds with alarm. Is this man there to cause trouble like the other newcomers—those who claim to be part of a government organization observing a new illness in the area?

Couldn’t wait for it to end
Revisado: 02-06-25
There were so many unnecessary words - like seemed, seemingly, appeared to be….- it broke the flow and made it hard to understand. And the performance was disruptive and weird because the narrative always sounded like he was forcing a scary whisper, as if he were telling horror stories in the dark of night

Historia
Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark’s seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven’t ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla’s midst who don’t believe her ascent to power was earned.

Great story. Good writing
Revisado: 11-18-24
I loved the author’s descriptions and the unexpected excitement throughout, and how she tied all of the mysteries and loose ends together.
But I HATED the performer’s monotone pausing in the wrong places. It through me off, which drove me crazy. If the story hadn’t been so good I would’ve stopped listening

Good but too many long drawn out parts slowing it
Revisado: 04-01-24
I like the storyline and how all the pieces were pulled together, and the parts that were good, were very good and very interesting. But I have two complaints (the second of which is also part of the first).
1. My main issue was, because I like a pace that flows (a flow that actually moves ahead), I felt Maas got stuck on quite a few areas throughout, that did not move the story along. It was frustrating in that it made me wish the book were shorter so that I would be done with it. Which is sad, because it was otherwise well written.
2. I'm not a fan of explicit sexual details. For me, those long, drawn-out sex scenes brought the flow of the story to a squeaking halt! So much so, that I eventually started skipping past them because I wasn't missing anything. I feel like she could have trusted the reader to know what happened by hinting at the experiences in ways that we would still get the picture and even be more interesting. Anyone who has had passionate moments can use their imagination in that area. I think she overdid it. If I wanted porn I'd watch a movie, not read fantasy.

Although a good story, horrible writing
Revisado: 01-26-24
It sounded like a first draft in need of SOoooo many edits. I liked the idea of the story, but couldn’t wait for it to end. The performance would have been good if the writing had been good AND the pauses were in the right place. Wrong pausing changes the meaning. Was it self published? Because it’s hard to believe a publisher would have accepted it as is. Because of these things I will not be reading the other books
