Historia
To survive the notorious prison IK-2 and assassinate Russian President Vladimir Petrov, John Dempsey had to become rosomakha, the wolverine. Now, back home in America, he’s trying to put the pieces of his life at Ember back together. But which man returned from Russia—Dempsey, or the wolverine? From the way his teammates look at him, it’s obvious they’re not sure, and neither is he. Meanwhile, Vice President Kelso Jarvis has barely had time to mourn the death of his mentor before a devastating attack reveals a new threat.

Historia
On a desolate beach in far northern Scotland, the winter storms have been washing up all manner of things since time began. But buried in the centre of one smaller iceberg is a shard of ancient Viking pottery telling a partial tale of a hidden mysterious island beyond the ice and mist, that was home to a great treasure and even greater horrors. Thawing in the same block of ice was a rotting flap of skin that refused to be identified but had similar skin patterns to a creature not seen for 100 million years.

Narrator's voice is not aging well
Revisado: 10-01-24
As a long term fan of Mr. beck's books, many of which are narrated by Mr. Mangan, I was sad to hear his voice quality not being up to what I have become used to. I didn't even finish past the 5th chapter. Hope he is well and it was just a fluke,

Historia
Army epidemiologist Frank Slater is facing a court-martial, but after his punishment is mysteriously lifted, he is offered a job no one else wants - to travel to a small island off the coast of Alaska and investigate a potentially lethal phenomenon. The permafrost has begun to melt, exposing bodies from a colony that was wiped out by the dreaded Spanish flu of 1918. Frank must determine if the thawed remains still carry the deadly virus in their frozen flesh and, if so, ensure that it doesn't come back to life.

Plot what I expected - TERRIBLE narration
Revisado: 02-04-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I survived this book simply because I wanted to get to the end. I really like this author, so I knew the issue was not the plot or the characters.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Paul Boehmer?
Anyone. A nice voice does not a narrator make. His terrible timing almost made me curse.

Historia
Each of the Maguire brothers has his own driving, single-minded obsession. For Jonathan it is his magnificent, talented, and desirable wife, Harriet. For Roger it is the elaborate universe he has constructed in a shed in their parents' garden, populated by millions of tiny insects. While Jonathan's pursuit of Harriet leads him to feelings of jealousy and anguish, Roger's immersion in the world he has created reveals a capability and talent that are absent from his everyday life.

O'Nan or Dostoyevsky?
Revisado: 07-14-15
If you could sum up The Insect Farm in three words, what would they be?
Eloquent, poetic, dark
What about Rupert Degas’s performance did you like?
He did a wonderful job of portraying the completely different characters with his tone of voice without sounding contrived or silly.
Any additional comments?
I simply could not decide if I thought this was more like Crime and Punishment or A Prayer for the Dying. I wasn't even sure I liked it, but I sure did listen attentively to every moment.

Historia
Best-selling author Philippa Gregory introduces one of her most unforgettable heroines: Katherine of Aragon. Daughter of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain, Katherine has been fated her whole life to marry Prince Arthur of England. When they meet and are married, the match becomes as passionate as it is politically expedient. But tragically, Arthur falls ill and extracts from his young bride a deathbed promise to marry his brother Henry, become Queen, and fulfill their dreams and her destiny.

Out of step
Revisado: 02-03-14
Any additional comments?
I found this book to be a bit of a let down from the Cousins War series. There are some phrases used much too often, making it repetitive enough to be a distraction. I did not find the use of Ms. Tanner as a narrator to satisfactorily replace Bianca Amato.
This one is boring... I hope the rest of the Tudors picks up a bit.

Narrator ruined the book
Revisado: 09-17-13
Would you try another book from Glenn Cooper and/or Maria Elena Infantino?
I have listened to other Glenn Cooper books and enjoyed them, but Ms. Infantino's narration of this book is just terrible. She simply has no idea about the rhythm of reading in English and reads in one breath sentences from 2 different paragraphs which entail a change in scene and characters, making it all very confusing.
Would you be willing to try another one of Maria Elena Infantino’s performances?
NO
