Predictable but still an enjoyable read.
Revisado: 01-16-21
I’ve been a Nicholas Sparks fan for years and always look forward to each new release, even though the stories are predictable. I like that there is no explicit sex and except for one, the books always have a satisfying ending. And to his credit “ brackish “ water only appeared one time and that was at the very beginning. All in all an enjoyable read. I like first person narratives. I hope he writes more of them.

Historia
Cassie Hanwell was born for emergencies. As one of the only female firefighters in her Texas firehouse, she's seen her fair share of them, and she's excellent at dealing with other people's tragedies. But when her estranged and ailing mother asks her to uproot her life and move to Boston, it's an emergency of a kind Cassie never anticipated. The tough, old-school Boston firehouse is as different from Cassie's old job as it could possibly be. Hazing, a lack of funding, and poor facilities mean that the firemen aren't exactly thrilled to have a "lady" on the crew.

Great read and great narrator
Revisado: 02-13-20
I loved this author’s style of writing as well as the actual story and I can’t think of anyone better to narrate it than Therese Plummer. The author handles some delicate subjects with great depths of emotion, knowledge and humor. I can’t wait to read more of Katherine Center’s books. And did I mention that Therese Plummer does an amazing job of narrating?

Taylor and Porter absolutely kill it
Revisado: 06-19-18
Loved the Bobiverse books and was truly sad when I finished the last one. Dennis Taylor has become one of my absolute favorite authors and as for Ray Porter, he could read an instruction manual for small engine repair and it would be perfection. In Singularity Gap, Taylor crafts some truly accessible, believable, gripping sci-fi. One of the best I've read in years.

OMG, SO GOOD!
Revisado: 09-06-17
Jonathan Mayberry and Ray Porter are an unbelievable pair and should exclusively work together. Mayberry crafts such a fast-paced suck you in kinda world, you just can't get enough. and Porter.... well I seriously can't imagine a single other person giving voice to these works. I finished this book way too fast and now I'm sad because it's over.

Disappointed in Dream Country
Revisado: 02-02-09
This is at least the tenth Luanne Rice novel I've read and although the plot line is intriguing, Ms. Rice seems to be appealing to a different readership with her style this time. The story would have been fine without adding in explicit details of the bedroom scene. Her other novels have all contained bedroom scenes where the reader was left to imagine the details. I will be hesitant to read or recommend any more Luanne Rice novels if she feels including even mild erotica is necessary to sell her books.
The plot, while a bit far-fetched, held my interest throughout the book and had a satisfactory ending. I am just disappointed with the diversion away from the kind of novels I have been accustomed to from Ms. Rice.
