Historia
These 11 stories by Joshua Ferris, many of which were first published in The New Yorker, are at once thrilling, strange, and comic. The modern tribulations of marriage, ambition, and the fear of missing out as the temptations flow like wine and the minutes of life tick down are explored with the characteristic wit and insight that have made Ferris one of our most critically acclaimed novelists.

Too Good
Revisado: 07-28-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Dinner Party to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Dinner Party?
The guy who switches the ornamental pigs in one office for the pics of the deceased young girl in another office during his melt down.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
So many of the voices added so much inflection and attitudes - just great mostly male characters developed to the significant extent in such a concise format!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When the lonely, self pitying elderly man ran off with the prostitute!
Any additional comments?
A must read, you've heard that before, but it really is entertaining and very interesting as you delve into the thorny territory of relationships.

Stopping at the grocery store for carrots shouldn't be dangerous, but for Shelby Nichols, it changes her life forever. During a bank robbery, she is caught in the cross-fire and grazed by a bullet to the head, leaving her with the ability to read minds. Not only is she hearing what everyone thinks about her, but the gunman who shot her is out to silence her forever. A particular flaw
Revisado: 01-14-17
I was just into the first chapter and I had yet had a grasp on the character. I was extremely disappointed that she referred to ending up in a nuthouse. This is disturbing because it reinforces the shame associated with any mental disturbance. The same attitude was applied towards psychotherapy.
The character was obviously a slim female and her wait concerns seemed exaggerated and off putting.
I put these aside and continued to listen as the plot became very interesting and found myself looking forward to hearing more each time I had the chance to listen again.
I don't know if I would recommend it.

Historia
To the Lighthouse is Virginia Woolf’s arresting analysis of domestic family life, centering on the Ramseys and their visits to the Isle of Skye in Scotland in the early 1900s. Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge, Eyes Wide Shut), who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Woolf in the film adaptation of Michael Cunningham’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel
The Hours, brings the impressionistic prose of this classic to vibrant life.

Where's The Fire ?
Revisado: 01-02-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who's read it about 10 times already and knows most of it by heart
What could Virginia Woolf have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I think she did the best she could under the circumstances.
Would you be willing to try another one of Nicole Kidman’s performances?
don't think I'll do that
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from To the Lighthouse?
didn't get past the 2nd chapter so I'd cut up to that
Any additional comments?
Kidman was reading this so fast and without any inflection that I started to think "what's the point?" and continued to enjoy my bath in quiet repose.
