We never know the reason someone does what they do
Revisado: 12-21-24
The twists and turns are lovely. I couldn't wait to get back to listening to the next life that was interrupted by a prediction from a total stranger. What a very weird experience that seems completely believable and never once feels unreal. Loved the story and loved the narrators. Thank you for this delightful story.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Enjoyed the story but predictable ending
Revisado: 01-04-23
Interesting story with interesting twists but a predictable ending. Clean and just simply enjoyable. Interesting characters and well developed. By the end, I cared about what happens to the leads in this story.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Story of a crazy, ridiculous relationship
Revisado: 08-24-14
This story was so far out there I could never connect to it. Great narrators and good performance of the book. Liked the references to current issues and news shows. The book moves slowly and the couple is completely ridiculously unhealthy and its unbelievable to think anyone would willingly live that way.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Incredible. Hard to believe this is a true story.
Revisado: 09-04-12
An incredible, disturbing, heart wrenching, scary, and joyful story I have ever listened to. It is hard to believe one person could live such a life. It is hard to believe that level of forgiveness can be achieved. Absolutely incredible. I was listening even while grocery shopping - I just couldn't stop once the story started.

But while Lily possesses the grace, taste, and morality of the ideal turn-of-the-century lady, her delicate innocence threatens her survival in that very world. Historia
Few novels have had as profound an impact on American culture as On the Road. Pulsating with the rhythms of 1950s underground America, jazz, sex, illicit drugs, and the mystery and promise of the open road, Kerouac’s classic novel of freedom and longing defined what it meant to be “beat” and has inspired generations of writers, musicians, artists, poets, and seekers who cite their discovery of the book as the event that “set them free”.

American classic
Revisado: 09-14-11
I dedicated my summer listening to American classics. This made my list and was certainly one of the better books I listened to. Will Patton is a wonderful reader and I really enjoyed his "Whooo-Hooo's" and other joyous outbursts the characters belted out. The story will really astound you in some parts and really offend you in others. No other book could better represent the beginning of the pre-hippie movement.

Historia
Ernest Hemingway said, “All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn". One hundred years after its author’s death, this classic remains remarkably modern and poignantly relevant. In this new edition, Elijah Wood reads Huck in a youthful voice that may be the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent. His performance captures the excitement and confusion of adolescence and adventure.

Great Story and Reader!!!!
Revisado: 07-05-11
Witty, intriguing, funny, suspensful, tragic - everything you want in a fun story about the King's Fool. I've recommended this book to all my friends and anyone else who will listen! Beware - there is dry, dark humor here and a bit of "heinous f***ery". You have to like this kind of quick wit tongue to like this book. And listen carefully or you'll miss the joke entirely. If you don't like dry, dark humor and off kilter jokes then you will not like nor understand this book.
