Historia
For the first time, an Empress Redemptor sits on Aritsar’s throne. To appease the sinister spirits of the dead, Tarisai must now anoint a council of her own, coming into her full power as a Raybearer. She must then descend into the Underworld, a sacrifice to end all future atrocities. Tarisai is determined to survive. Or at least, that’s what she tells her increasingly distant circle of friends. Months into her shaky reign as empress, child spirits haunt her, demanding that she pay for past sins of the empire.

Great worldbuilding!
Revisado: 02-20-22
A cool and impressive piece of storytelling. So smart and beautifully told. It is not my favorite genre. I am a bit to silly for this to be one of my favorite books ever but that is on me and not the book. I just want more comedy contrasting the drama and that would probably not have worked for this kind of story. Such a cool world and important subject matters and it manages to be both personal and vulnerable while at the same time encompassing a wast wold and lots of characters.

Historia
Cath and Wren are identical twins, and until recently they did absolutely everything together. Now they're off to university, and Wren's decided she doesn't want to be one half of a pair any more - she wants to dance, meet boys, go to parties and let loose. It's not so easy for Cath. She's horribly shy and has always buried herself in the fan fiction she writes, where she always knows exactly what to say and can write a romance far more intense than anything she's experienced in real life.

Not my cup of rainbow
Revisado: 02-15-22
I love the Simon Snow trilogy and read them first so maybe I just came in to this book with the wrong mindset. I just had a really hard time liking the characters. I know that does not have to make a story bad but for me it made it har to root for them. I also got pretty irritated about the book telling me how one of the characters was such a “good guy” when I thought he was a bit of an asshole who didn’t listen to or respect the main characters boundaries and prioritized his fragile masculinity over her wishes. It would have been fine if It didn’t feel like the book signed of on it. I am glad that this book lead to the other books though.
The reading was fine but sometimes the changing of readers for different parts was more disorienting than helpful.

Historia
In Carry On, Simon Snow and his friends realized that everything they thought they understood about the world might be wrong. And in Wayward Son, they wondered whether everything they understood about themselves might be wrong. In Any Way the Wind Blows, Simon and Baz and Penelope and Agatha have to decide how to move forward.

I am not saying it wasn’t a satisfying ending. It was. I just want to spent more time with these characters and this wonderful reading voice. Guess I’m gonna have to go back and read the trilogy from the beginning again.

Danny Tozer has a problem: She just inherited the powers of Dreadnought, the world's greatest superhero. Until Dreadnought fell out of the sky and died right in front of her, Danny was trying to keep people from finding out she's transgender. This is my new favorite book!
Revisado: 10-10-20
I loved this book. It felt like a loveletter both to superherostories and to queer stories. It feelt like it was written for all of us trans nerds who just got figuratively slapped in the face by J.K Rowling.
Slight spoiler:
I thought the part of the story that contained coming out to unsupportive family members would just be painful but the way it was written felt for me cathartic. Panfully true but cathartic. And the superhero storyline was a perfectbalance betwene tropes and twists.
I’m gonna tell all my friends about this book. Maybe they will read this review while looking it up. In that case: Hi friend! Love you!

Historia
Georgia feels loveless - in the romantic sense, anyway. She’s 18, never been in a relationship, or even had a crush on a single person in her whole life. She thinks she's an anomaly, people call her weird and she feels a little broken. But she still adores romance - weddings, fan fiction and happily ever afters. After a disastrous summer, Georgia is now at university, hundreds of miles from home. She is more determined than ever to find love - and her annoying roommate, Rooney, is a bit of a love expert, so perhaps she can help.

Abundantly queer
Revisado: 07-15-20
Loved all the queer storylines! The story itself was a bit slow and repetitive in the beginning but got better and better. Loved what it had to say about love and the ending gave me the feels.

Historia
Yetu holds the memories for her people - water-dwelling descendants of pregnant African slave women thrown overboard by slave owners - who live idyllic lives in the deep. Their past, too traumatic to be remembered regularly, is forgotten by everyone, save one - the historian. This demanding role has been bestowed on Yetu. Yetu remembers for everyone, and the memories, painful and wonderful, traumatic and terrible and miraculous, are destroying her. And so, she flees to the surface, escaping the memories, the expectations, and the responsibilities.

If you wanna have a good time (just give me a Carl?)
Revisado: 10-15-18
Holy shitballs! Sorry, I just finished reading and am still a bit caught up in the story. It’s a really exiting, can’t-put-it-down kind of book.
What I like most about it however is that it is the kind of art that helps you (or at least helped me) to think about and interact with complicated and heavy subjects. I’m glad so many people will read it because I’m gonna need to find someone to talk with about it all. It feels like a important book in how It could not have been written in any other time than now. Not just because of technology, but because of the challenges specific to our time.
And I liked the characters.
Glad I read it.
