Historia
There is only one place Kendra Donovan wants to travel - back to her own time period in the 21st century. But since that's not happening, she agrees instead to travel with her new guardian, the Duke of Aldridge, to one of his smaller estates in Lancashire. Their journey takes them through Yorkshire, a region whose breathtaking beauty masks a simmering violence brought on by the Industrial Revolution, which pits mill owner against worker.

good story line and character development

too slow with unnecessary detail about mundane life in 19th century. I still like the series.

Joe Pike favorite!
Revisado: 12-14-21
This episode of the great Joe Pike series is a bit lackluster compared to others. The introduction of the killer squad lends some exciting points, but the rest is predictable.

old school for sure.
Revisado: 09-24-21
I used to go see Matt Helm in the couple of movies made of the series. So, choosing this inaugural book reintroduced me to the character.
Story is good, just enough twists to be surprising, and solid character development for the ex-war operator. I liked it. 4 stars because it was predictable. It did leave the reader primed for next adventure.

A complete crime fiction box set! Homicide detective Thomas Prescott may be retired—but a serial killer, a high-profile murder, an ill-fated cruise, and a chilling small-town crime add more than enough excitement to his hard-earned rest. This collection includes the first four books: Unforeseen, Gray Matter, The Afrikaans, and Show Me.

Great series, current event themes.
Revisado: 08-05-21
This series introduced me to Thomas Prescott (TP) and his exploits. He is a great character, full of himself yet compassionate between wisecracking thoughts and conversations. Kind of like Bruce Wayne without the billions of dollars resources.
I found the stories interesting, funny, and easy to follow. The climax of the story usually is surprising, though right in front of you all the time.
I could find myself acquiring more TP adventures if and when available.

Historia
It is 1872, and a series of gruesome murders is the talk of London. Mycroft Holmes - now 26 and a force to be reckoned with at the War Office - has no interest in the killings; however his brother Sherlock has developed a distasteful fascination for the macabre to the detriment of his studies, much to Mycroft's frustration. When a ship carrying cargo belonging to Mycroft's best friend Cyrus Douglas runs aground, Mycroft persuades Sherlock to serve as a tutor at the orphanage that Douglas runs as a charity, so that Douglas might travel to see what can be salvaged.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Rather detailed story of a family surviving on a farm. The twist is surrounding a mysterious child and his relationship to bees and his adopted family. Took me a while to get into the story, but worth the time.

Wonderful Storytelling
Revisado: 09-09-19
Once the reader gets into the story, it becomes riveting. I almost shut it off, but pushed through until I figured out the artful weave of different families linked together by an artist, a house, and the spirit who resides there. From the time of candles and gas lights to computers and cellphones, it is a great story.
