Historia
Sam and Sadie—two college friends, often in love, but never lovers—become creative partners in a dazzling and intricately imagined world of video game design, where success brings them fame, joy, tragedy, duplicity, and, ultimately, a kind of immortality. It is a love story, but not one you have heard before.

Not what I thought
Revisado: 03-11-25
This book was definitely different than I imagined from the description but definitely unique and interesting. I would say it should probably have some ***trigger warnings for suicide, depression, violent crime/shooting and romantic sexual and mental abuse. ***
The way the story jumps back-and-forth between past and present and different stories is very interesting and not as confusing as some. It paints a cool picture of what goes into making video games minds work so differently. And the way a partnership and friendship can be so much more than some romantic relationships

Such a beautifully unique story with 3 brilliant pov’s
Revisado: 12-14-24
I can’t recommend this more! I absolutely loved the thought provoking idea of losing ten years of memories and being thrown back into your life. I loved the positives and negatives as she sees life through her 10 years younger lens. Also the pov of her sister dealing with infertility really hit home and had some amazing perspective. Her adopted grandmother just tickled me and was just the cutest old lady- I wanted her as my adopted grandmother! I felt like this was almost 3 books in one with all these women’s stories! They all felt fleshed out and unique in such a short amount of time I would read a book on each of them no problem. we did this book as a book club and I ended up telling my husband about it so much that he read it as well

Great information and perspective
Revisado: 12-14-24
Having a gender creative child myself and living amongst a community very intolerant of that, I needed a book like this! I do wish there was a little bit more perspective from the point of view of someone who is religious but also trying to reconcile but that would be another book entirely. I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for all the work that you’ve done in this area and anyone Working with or supporting children in their gender creativity should read this book

Absolutely loved! Great accents and narration!
Revisado: 12-14-24
It took a minute to be able to understand the accents well but they were so charming and fun to listen to! Also the story was amazing! I loved how they were so real about feelings of insecurity and jealousy and it was a cool perspective to think about how hard it is to be famous and under a spotlight all the time. I love Emily books so when I saw she reviewed this one well I was so excited and she wasn’t wrong!

Needs trigger warnings
Revisado: 12-14-24
I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this one! I wanted a romance to take my mind off of life but this brought way more darkness then romance and was quite disturbing. Definitely twists I didn’t see coming but I would not have read this if I knew there were going to be descriptions of violence towards babies!

This is such a thrilling story!! I liked the narrator too! I’ve heard some better at accents and voices but she does great with the feeling she puts into it.
