Historia
In Darujhistan, the city of blue blue fire, it is said that Love and Death shall arrive dancing. It is summer, and the heat is oppressive, but for the small, rotund man in the faded red waistcoat discomfiture is not just because of the sun. All is not well. Dire portents plague his nights and haunt the city streets like fiends of shadow. Assassins skulk in alleyways, but the quarry has turned, and the hunters become the hunted. Hidden hands pluck the strings of tyranny like a fell chorus.

great story but bad narratir
Revisado: 01-03-22
It is honestly such a shame that this series lost its original narrator as this guy is constantly involved sitting with his narrative voice and often mixes up the voices of the characters. some chapters are read in Krupe's voice for no reason. Duiker sounds like an insane old man for no reason and many others randomly take up an Indian accent.
I won't even touch the inconsistent pronunciations or other minutiae. what will keep you listening is the phenomenal story as all of the threads draw together. 2 more books of this guy and then I hope I never have to hear him meander around such a masterpiece again.

Historia
The Seven Cities Rebellion has been crushed. Sha’ik is dead. One last rebel force remains, holed up in the city of Y’Ghatan and under the fanatical command of Leoman of the Flails. The prospect of laying siege to this ancient fortress makes the battle-weary Malazan Fourteenth Army uneasy. For it was here that the Empire’s greatest champion, Dassem Ultor, was slain and a tide of Malazan blood spilled. A place of foreboding, its smell is of death. But elsewhere, agents of a far greater conflict have made their opening moves.

A transitional tale
Revisado: 06-23-21
what a whirlwind of a book. I can't help but feel that this ending really leaves so much to be desired. Everything feels like it leads up to nothing and while I am just going to pick up Reaper's Gale, had I been made to wait for a sequel I'd have been pissed! ahaha
The narration is a little better on this one. It sounds like Page has really settled in. However Icarium's voice is just so unfitting. I'd also say at times it's very hard to distinguish whose voice is whose when going between all of the Bonehunter soldiers. fiddler when whispering also takes on a middle eastern accent? a bit silly.
nevertheless another great entry in the series, albeit Erickson seems to get hornier and hornier as the series progresses. am I getting it right that a cave woman is jerking bottle off???

Historia
After decades of internecine warfare, the tribes of the Tiste Edur have at last united under the Warlock King of the Hiroth. There is peace - but it has been exacted at a terrible price: a pact made with a hidden power whose motives are at best suspect, at worst, deadly. To the south, the expansionist kingdom of Lether, eager to fulfill its long-prophesized renaissance as an Empire reborn, has enslved all its less-civilized neighbors with rapacious hunger. All, that is, save one - the Tiste Edur. And it must be only a matter of time before they too fall.

great story. I wish the narrator had more voices
Revisado: 06-07-21
The story is epic. the narrator tries their best but needs some more variation to make characters in a cast this huge more discernable.

A change in narrator.
Revisado: 04-03-21
A great tale but the narrator seems to only have a select few voices at his disposal, making some passages a bit confusing.
