Historia
In this groundbreaking new work, Mark Booth embarks on an enthralling intellectual tour of our world's secret histories. Starting from a dangerous premise - that everything we've been taught about our world's past is corrupted, and that the stories put forward by the various cults and mystery schools throughout history are true - Booth produces nothing short of an alternate history of the past 3,000 years.

Historia
Why do "Great Books" continue to speak to us hundreds and even thousands of years after they were written? Can they deepen our self-knowledge and wisdom? Are our lives changed in any meaningful way by the experience of reading them?Tackle these questions and more in these 36 engaging lectures. Beginning with his definition of a Great Book as one that possesses a great theme of enduring importance, noble language that "elevates the soul and ennobles the mind," and a universality that enables it to "speak across the ages," Professor Fears examines a body of work that offers extraordinary wisdom to those willing to receive it.

The theme of the Wendigo throughout the story.
What three words best describe Ruth Ann Phimister’s performance?
Poor pronunciation of Cree and Ojibwa (It made me laugh)
Who was the most memorable character of Three Day Road and why?
Niska is a character that is a healer and Elder that brings some glimmer of hope when things are darkest.
Any additional comments?
Not only does this story bring to light the residential school system and the racism native face everyday. It also is a story rich with culture and teachings. Historia
Joseph Boyden's first novel, Three Day Road, was a Today Show Book Club selection. Through Black Spruce is the exceptional follow-up to his acclaimed debut. Cree bush pilot Will Bird lies comatose in a hospital, while his wayward niece Annie arrives to sit in silent vigil by his side. Slowly their stories reveal two people previously separated by great distances, beaten and broken, and searching for some sense of where they belong in the world.

Poor choice of Narrator for a good book
Revisado: 03-16-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The people who were chosen to read this book were all wrong. They make this book boring.
What did you like best about this story?
The insight into the everyday life of First Nations people.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
A Cree or Ojibwa person would have been a much better choice. The narrator's that have been chosen drains the life from this story.
Was Through Black Spruce worth the listening time?
I could not get through the entire book. The narration was too sterile.
Any additional comments?
This is a good book. Black Spruce depicts some aspects of the culture and themes that are important to Cree and Ojibwa today.
