could deeply relate
Revisado: 07-19-19
As an officer myself, I found myself repeatedly nodding in agreement, laughing at having experienced the exact same things myself, and learning a few new things myself. (I've never worked with the secret service, so that was all new to me).
This is definitely going to be the audiobook I point people to who don't get what it's like.

4+ mediocre stories instead of one good one
Revisado: 08-24-18
The author seems afraid to develop any of his characters or actually do anything with them. you've got a priest who's as self assured at the beginning as he is at the end, a tank commander with the attitude of eeyore and the number of lines up match. Then you've got 3 different governors who do literally nothing plot wise except fill up a couple pages and give you views of the war that add literally nothing to the story. and of course you have the titan crews who never change or grow at all.
Sure the author writes like they learned something, but literally nothing changes about their characters at all.
Plot? BOOM BAM PAKEW PAKEW MICHAEL BAY EXPLOSIONS! It would be extremely forgettable if it weren't for set pieces. Entire cities literally exploded like 4 times. They're nice visuals, but add 0 to the story beyond plot devices.
The reader was great, worked well with what he waa given, but you could tell he was struggling to remember all the forgettable one-off characters that for some reason were the main focus.
The book was clearly pushed out to sell adaptus titanicus box sets. Skip this and you'll miss out on nothing.

misleading listed narrators, but great book
Revisado: 08-10-17
when I saw Neil and Seth listed as narrators this instantly became an instant buy. unfortunately they both read about 3 minutes in the introduction/forward, then never again for the entire book. But.... then the narrator is llevar Burton, so that's still pretty awesome.

Historia
When Norm Macdonald, one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time, was approached to write a celebrity memoir, he flatly refused, calling the genre “one step below instruction manuals.” Norm then promptly took a two-year hiatus from stand-up comedy to live on a farm in northern Canada. When he emerged he had under his arm a manuscript, a genre-smashing book about comedy, tragedy, love, loss, war, and redemption. When asked if this was the celebrity memoir, Norm replied, “Call it anything you damn like.”

What is the nature of space and time? How do we fit within the universe? How does the universe fit within us? There's no better guide through these mind-expanding questions than acclaimed astrophysicist and best-selling author Neil deGrasse Tyson. But today, few of us have time to contemplate the cosmos. So Tyson brings the universe down to Earth succinctly and clearly, with sparkling wit, in digestible chapters consumable anytime and anywhere in your busy day.

more of the same Tyson
Revisado: 06-09-17
Kind of disappointed. after the first couple chapters it quickly became everything you've heard him say before. little Timmy being 1% genetically different to us shows up, Hayden planetarium Pluto? yep. us being star stuff? A good 10 minutes on that point alone. he's also far more reserved / less excited than in other audio books he's done.
if you've just discovered Tyson you'll love it, but if you've been a fan for a while, you won't be missing really anything new.

But as their friends and family draw the couple into their own issues, the offseason becomes anything but quiet. Historia
Devlin Miski thought coming out on national TV would be the hardest part about being a gay football player. But it's when his press conference is over that the trouble really starts. The athletic tiger and his boyfriend Lee, a fox with a tongue as quick as his wit, still won't get many breaks in their fight for understanding. They'll need to deal with a stubborn reporter determined to get a story any way he can, furious parents, and hostile teammates - not to mention each other.

Significantly better than the first.
Revisado: 12-07-16
Which character – as performed by Jeremy Sewell – was your favorite?
Lee- he seemed to get the effeminate fox down far better than the tough "straight" acting tiger.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I was nearly late for work several times as I sat in my car needing to hear a few minutes more.
Any additional comments?
The story is top notch as Gold is known for. The reader has significantly improved since the first book, finally finding his confidence and step, as well as pacing himself as he reads. I listen to the HQ version though, so when chapters end you can still faintly hear the click of his mouse as he stopped the recording >.<. He also sometimes loses the voice of the character he's narrating for a sentence, but quickly picks it back up.

Historia
Dev is a football player at Forester University, a small liberal arts college where he and his teammates get to strut around and have their pick of the girls on Friday nights. That's as good as it gets - until he meets Lee, a fox with a quick wit and an attractive body. Problem is, Lee's not a girl. He's a gay fox, an activist who never dreamed he'd fall for a football player. As their attraction deepens into romance, it's hard enough for them to handle each other, let alone their inquisitive friends, family, and co-workers.

bad narrator, great story.
Revisado: 11-15-16
The story carries this Audio book. The narrator rushes, mispronounces, you can hear computers in the background, at one time a chair squeaking, awkward cuts and his voice differences for characters are unnoticeable most times.
I would happily rebuy this if it had a better recording, because this is tough to force through. luckily it's kyle gold, so the story makes you grit your teeth and bear it.

haven't enjoyed a book this much is years.
Revisado: 06-05-16
It's been a long time since I've been this emotionally invested in a story. My audible library is full of half finished books as I move on to a new one with each month's credit. This book though I finished in under a week. I was making extra time in my day just to listen to it. I'll definitely be picking up the rest of Gold's novels here, and I probably won't wait for the credits either.
This is also the first book to motivate me to write a review in over a year of subscribing to audible.
My only complaint is it felt like the reader misspoke a couple times, saying words close, but incorrect in context. ( such as saying "if" where "is" made sense logically and grammatically) these moments were very few and far between though. Maybe once every 4 chapters.
