Historia
Part memoir, part history, Burn Book is a necessary chronicle of tech’s most powerful players. This is the inside story we’ve all been waiting for about modern Silicon Valley and the biggest boom in wealth creation in the history of the world. When tech titans crowed that they would “move fast and break things,” Kara Swisher was moving faster and breaking news. While covering the explosion of the digital sector in the early 1990s, she developed a long track record of digging up and reporting the facts about this new world order.

LOVED this book!
Revisado: 03-23-24
Erudite, witty, honest! I was having a triplet geriatric high risk pregnancy and raising children during the tech revolution. It was wonderful to hear from someone who was front and center AND objective. Her love of tech but concern for how money and hubris can lead to disaster is certainly worth a great deal. We can all learn a tremendous amount from Kara Swisher!

Historia
Edge of the Map is equal parts inspiring, dramatic, and heartbreaking. One of America's greatest high altitude mountaineers, Christine Boskoff was at the top of her career when she and her partner perished in an avalanche in 2006. Principled and humble, Boskoff was also a deeply loved role model in the climbing community.

Great story BUT
Revisado: 10-15-22
This story was so poorly read that it made it almost impossible to listen to. The narrator sounded as if she was reading a fairy tale-I just don’t get it. The story was not terribly well written but the life of Christine Boskoff is well worth writing about!

Horrible fake accents
Revisado: 01-12-22
I am not sure if I will be able to tolerate listening to this. The fake French and Polish accents coupled with the melodramatic style of reading is almost intolerable! The reading has truly ruined a decent novel!

The acclaimed author of American Dirt reveals the devastating effects of a shocking tragedy in this landmark true-crime work - the first ever to look intimately at the experiences of both the victims and their families. A Rip in Heaven is Jeanine Cummins’ story of a night in April, 1991, when her two cousins Julie and Robin Kerry, and her brother, Tom, were assaulted on the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge, which spans the Mississippi River just outside of St. Louis.

Well written tragedy
Revisado: 07-29-20
Excellent book. I had concerns that it would turn into a death penalty argument but although this was part of the story, it did not devolve. Tragic for these families and these lovely girls who were robbed of their lives.

Very disappointing
Revisado: 02-18-20
The story was initially believable but became utterly ridiculous in terms of random coincidence. I also did not realize that this was a “Christian” novel which made the story even more about excusing the Holocaust through Christian “redemption”.
