Historia
After decades of poising on the brink, the United States and China finally go to war when China invades the island of Taiwan. Deploying their most futuristic technologies in this grand strategic competition of the twenty-first century, the stakes could not be higher. Not only the future of the Taiwanese people but the fate of the world lies in the balance. In an era when humans no longer just use machines, but partner with them in all aspects of military operations, this fictional account views this future war through the eyes of the American, Chinese, and Taiwanese caught up in the maelstrom.

Superior to Ghost Fleet and 2034
Revisado: 02-01-24
This is significantly better than Ghost Fleet and 2034. I say that as a huge fan of all of Ackerman’s other writing and as an antibody to the military’s obsession with Singer’s book. This work is grounded in a closer truth to geopolitical and technological realities in our competition with the PRC and CCP.

From two former military officers and award-winning authors comes a chillingly authentic geopolitical thriller that imagines a naval clash between the US and China in the South China Sea in 2034 - and the path from there to a nightmarish global conflagration.

Laziness begets mediocrity.
Revisado: 04-03-21
I am a big Ackerman fan but this was a disappointment. It is full of military inaccuracies that shouldn’t be present, like the idea of there still being Hornets in the USMC despite the last tour being completed in March of this year. Or a Navy SEAL turned Surface Warfare Officer who first fires a Marine Squadron Commander (despite there being no administrative way she would hold supervision over said individual) and then plans and makes recommendations on fighter mission tactics, techniques and procedures for the replacement officer (who was a qualified F-35 pilot but somehow convinced the Marine Corps to let him back into the cockpit of a Hornet without any mention of getting requalified). Additionally and probably because the authors are from the maritime services, which traditionally aren’t the fondest of operating in a Joint capacity, they only ever mention the Navy and Marines through the duration of the conflict.
I do appreciate the idea of India as a rising power and how cyber effects need to be considered in the same vein as nukes for previous generations.
