Another Great Book by Correia
Revisado: 10-06-23
I’m partial to Correia’s writing and this is another great book by him. Porter does a great job narrating as always!

Historia
On a planet where life is cheap, in a city built on corruption, very few things are considered holy. The Landing Site is one of them. The remains of the century-old habitat pod—which delivered the colonists to the only barely habitable place on the cruel world of Croatoan—has become a monument to the hardscrabble people who somehow survived the unsurvivable. So when blood is shed on that sacred ground, it’s seen as an attack against the entire colony.

Larry Correia’s imaginative storytelling always amazes me! Definitely worth the almost 4 hours (both books combined) spent listening!

Ultimate soldier. Ultimate mission. But will the SAS survive a nightmare journey into the tunnel lair of the Viet Cong? June 1966: 3 Squadron SAS (Australian Special Air Service) set up a forward operating base in Vietnam's Phuoc Tuy province, a swampy hell of jungle and paddy fields 45 miles east of Saigon, in the heart of enemy territory. Historia
Some have called him "Lawrence of Afghanistan". To the Pashtun tribesmen he is "Commander Jim", leader of the "bearded ones". He is Army Special Forces Major Jim Gant, one of the most charismatic and controversial U.S. commanders of modern memory, a man who changed the face of America's war in Afghanistan when his critical white paper, "One Tribe at a Time", went viral at the Pentagon, the White House, and on Capitol Hill in 2009.

MUST READ!!! Or listen.
Revisado: 07-07-15
For any fan of American Military History, this is a must read!!! The fact that Major Gant's efforts in the GWOT aren't more well known to Americans is a tragedy. He was THE face representing The U.S. and its people to the Afghanis inhabiting the regions of Afghanistan in which "Commander Jim" operated. And he did a damn fine job in my opinion. Yes, he could have done a little differently, but I'm glad that he did not. If he had, none of us would have ever known his name. Thanks to Mrs Tyson-Gant for her courage in living and telling this story, and thanks Major Gant for representing your fellow Americans in a most honorable and courageous way! The American Military will eventually be singing the praises of what he and his team of Americans and Afghans accomplished. All while regretting not giving him their unabated support. You two secured not just your own, but everyone involved in this story's place in history!
