Such a Sweet Story!

I gave the performance four stars because the recording skipped in a few places. The voice was great. There just needed a little technical tweaking.. I am listening to these during the Coronavirus scare. I read the books years ago. They are a great way to spend this particular time. I love the characters so.

This third book in the Amish Homestead series was more suspenseful and gave a deeper understanding into the Amish way of life. I thought it was the best out of the three.

Sweet Story

I love reading books about the Amish. I love their simple lifestyle. This one is the second in a set of three connecting stories. It was of course about love and how one can feel about a man who has just lost his wife who is also your best friend. I liked the fact that a few sensitive comments from some older but wiser women can change one's perspective for the good.

Toiling Away Through Investigation

I wasn't sure that I wanted to listen to this book, but I am so glad that I did! I couldn't putt down! What this evil man did to so many people's lives was horrific. I was impressed by the investigator Paul Holes' tenacity in sticking with the investigation and the team of people he gathered around him to help. Searching for this serial rapist and murderer took so long that we get to hear a small history of how developments in science now help criminal investigation. Fascinating! Well, find him they did. We can all breathe a sigh of relief!

Great Read!

As I listened to this book, I found myself critiquing the many movies I have seen of Jane Eyre to see which one was the most true to the story. Most hit the mark, but as always parts of the book had to be left out. So, of course, the book is always better. Thandie Newton's voice was pleasant to listen to and as always the story of Jane Eyre was wonderful!

Fighting God

In this book I found love, commitment, jealousy, forgiveness, anger, adultery, and God's influence on all the characters. Colin Firth's voice was pleasant. At the beginning of the reading I was aware that it was him speaking, but as I got involved in the story this awareness disappeared. This story is compelling. I gave it three stars only because it was not my type of story. I'm a romantic and like the good characters to end well and the sinful ones to get their due.

I love this story. I especially love the depiction of Levin's life - his struggle with love and his struggle with belief in God. I gave it four stars because Tolstoy often got sidetracked telling too too much about things that had nothing to do with the main story.

Very interesting overview of the Nazi occupation of France. This book tells of the effect of the occupation on all classes of people.

So Uplifting!

I love this book. Written in the form of letters was the perfect way to picture the effect of living with the Germans during WWII and also show the love of books. Reading helped the people on Guernsey live through the war.
