Historia
Maximum Ride is a perfectly normal teenager who just happens to be able to fly, the result of an out-of-control government experiment. Max and the other members of the Flock—six kids who share her remarkable ability—have been asked to aid a group of environmental scientists studying the causes of global warming. The expedition seems like a perfect combination of adventure, activism—and escaping government forces who watch the Flock like a hawk. But even in Antarctica, trapped in the harshest weather on our planet, Maximum Ride is an irresistible target in constant danger.

Doesn’t feel like it is a part of the same series…
Revisado: 08-27-22
Many readers will talk about the obvious political stance that this book shoves down your throat regarding global warming. I am all for bettering our planet and fully believe in climate change, but this book was a little too much, and it kindve killed the story for me. The previous 3 books I was able to escape into, but this one felt like it was written by CNN. I enjoyed the narrator and for once the audio backup was actually ok.
I also feel like Patterson lost his sense of what he made his characters to be. Their personalities etc. Fang was affected the most I think. He is completely different than the last three books, and he isn’t the only one. You would think it is because of a character arc or development, but it isn’t. This book honestly seems like a complete reboot and not in a good way.
The story has clearly been lost when the work begins to feel like it was written as fan fiction, but yet it was actually from the original author. This book and these characters did not feel like the flock I had grown to like.
I always believe in second chances and though I couldn’t make it through this book, I will continue onto the next Maximum Ride tale and see what happens. Happy reading guys…

Historia
After their last wild adventure, the Flock members are taken under the wing of an FBI agent and try to live "normal" lives by going to school, making friends - and continuing their relentless search for their parents. But the Erasers return, forcing the Flock to abandon their search and make their escape once again. The voice inside Max's head keeps telling her that it's up to her to save the world, but this is especially challenging to do when she is faced with her ultimate match: a newer and better version of herself, Maximum Ride II.

Hard to stay engaged, could do without music, great actor.

When I read these books years ago, they seemed to have a good plot. However, now as an adult rereading them for kicks and giggles, I am conflicted. It seems like action is just thrown into the story just to be there. The characters are great, and the voice reader is excellent (could do without the constant music though). I will continue to listen to the books to continue my walk down memory lane, but if it wasn’t for my old flame for all these avian human freaks I’d probably pass. I guess you just have to be a kid to go with the flow of the plot, my adult brain can’t stay engaged to the content as well as it used to.
