Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority.

I really like the writing and the narrator is very good. Read the first book and I’m glad I gave this second book a chance. Liz Salander is a great character.

Holds you right to the end
Revisado: 04-17-24
If you are thinking of jumping into the Perry Mason series, you have a lot to choose from. This is is not a typical book. This is one to read. I liked it all the way through.
I was a fan of the TV series and that is what drew me to the series. Warning: TV version is cleaned up and a lot of the racial slurs and female imbalances show up in these books the cultural realities of the times are still present.
I think Earl was clearly writing at a high level during this adventure.

I really like Lawrence Block. I think he is one of my favorite storytellers. I out the book down early on because I wasn’t sure it was connecting with me. When I came back, it was better. Give it a chance. I’m glad I did.

That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Good Read,
Revisado: 01-07-24
I am a big Jack Reacher fan. This was a solid book and I will read it again. The setting of still being in the military gives it more of a short story feel for me. I really liked the short story collections. I just felt like it wasn’t one of the great books in this series and I think I like Jack outside the military structure walking and hitching rides. I felt the under-estimating of bad intentions by characters was a nice theme running through the book. Keep them coming Lee Child!

Really hides the Killer
Revisado: 12-12-23
I really enjoyed the ride of the story. I appreciated how Della was being developed as a true partner in this team of problem solvers. Because the stories were written in a different time, it’s not easy to always hear how women minorities and immigrants were treated doing that hayday. However, I tried to appreciate that those were the times and that everyone wasn’t enlightened. Overall, this is a great story it really demonstrates the talent of the author. The narrator is just phenomenal in my opinion. One of my favorites in the Perry Mason series. Bravo.

A good ride
Revisado: 10-22-23
I wanted to experience Dashal for myself and can better appreciate his skill as a story teller. The story is very much from an earlier time in which women and minorities sensitively was not a real thing. If you can get over those hurdles, I think you will come away satisfied like I was. Kept me guessing until the end.

Wealthy businessman Hartley Bassett has killed himself. There's a typewritten suicide note and three guns lying near his body. But for Perry Mason, that's evidence overkill. He knows there has been trouble in Bassett's life. His wife wants out, his stepson hates him, an embezzler can't pay him back - and there's the man with a glass eye who hired Perry Mason even before his glass eye went missing and was found in the hands of the deceased.

For the first time, there are five distinct generations sharing the workplace at many American companies - from Baby Boomer to Generation Z. That means an age difference of up to 60 years and a multitude of experiences and attitudes. More crucially, it means there are tremendous challenges - as well as significant opportunity - when trying to foster collaboration between these diverse groups. In this workshop, workplace culture expert (and proud Gen Xer) Jennifer Romolini examines this extraordinary phenomenon and how it has upended typical management strategies.
