Historia
Nate Overbay, a former soldier suffering from PTSD and ALS, goes to an 11th-floor bank and climbs out the bathroom window onto the ledge, ready to end it all. But as he’s steeling himself to jump, a crew of gunmen bursts into the bank and begins viciously shooting employees and customers. With nothing to lose, Nate climbs back inside, confronts the robbers, and with his military training, starts taking them out, one by one. The last man standing leaves Nate with a cryptic warning: “He will make you pay in ways you can’t imagine.” Soon enough, Nate learns what this means.

Survives on its own
Revisado: 04-05-17
Kept me listening from start to finish. I do kind of judge a good book this way because I have purchased a few that I've given up on. The narration is very good. He changes the voices quite well.
A military veteran feels that there is nothing to live for, but has to defend his family in the end. So life is worth living after all. The characters were all very developed so you that you almost knew them. I will be reading (listening to) more books by Gregg Hurwitz. Also, I like "stand alone" novels - there are too many "series" books out there now. The trilogies are getting tiresome for me.

A Real-life Cartoon
Revisado: 04-05-17
Jinkies! This is straight out of Scooby Doo with Veronica, Shaggy and Fred. I'm sorry, the story was just too far-fetched at times. The Girl conveniently loses her memory and shows back up at her husband's house. In the meantime had been with another man. Then they become a three-some and try to solve the mystery. Yikes! I'm sorry, this was not a "thriller" to me.

Would not recommend.
Revisado: 07-30-15
The narration was good in this book. But other than that, I really did not like it. This book is long and I just couldn't wait for it to be over so that I can go on to something else. I guess I must not be into voodoo very much. I'm sorry I wasted a credit on it, but I listened to the end. I would not recommend.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Couldn't wait to "read" on.
Revisado: 03-24-15
This is a book about a girl, Libby Day, only 7 years old, who lost 3 members of her family in a horrible crime in 1985. The book is very well written that you do not find out until the very end, how they actually died.
We hear the story from 3 points of view - Libby's, her mother's, and her big brother, Ben. The story is told in flashbacks and present day. I enjoyed this book so much I couldn't wait to get in my car so I could keep reading. Narration was quite good, also. Definitely, worth a credit.

Unique Story
Revisado: 03-17-15
The book is told in flashbacks to a time when 3 high school friends got involved in something they should have stayed away from. One of them ends up dead and the other 2 are being pursued by unknown dangerous thugs. I did like this book because they are unique characters. I am getting tired of the same old characters from one trilogy to the next. It was worth a credit.

Few writers have explored the human dark side with as much insight and power - and in Winter Prey, his shattering New York Times best-seller, Sandford tells his most ice-blooded tale of all. Minneapolis Lieutenant Lucas Davenport has tracked killers in cities across America. But even he may be unprepared to face the savage murderer hunting human prey in the Wisconsin woods this winter.

So-So
Revisado: 03-17-15
I've always enjoyed John Sandford books, but this was just not very entertaining. The "Ice Man" really didn't seem too menacing, even though a few people died. Plus he did chase people sometimes on his snowmobile - um, wow.
This book just kind of grossed me out with a bit of child porn. Really, I am not easily grossed out. I just think that part of the story was stupid, if you're talking about a killer in Winter. Let's pick on some adults who can try to defend themselves, not some young kids. Sorry, but this book was not up to par.

Deserves 5 Stars
Revisado: 02-24-15
This is my first Edward X Delaney novel and I really enjoyed it. I sometimes enjoy older novels. Everything is so "high tech" now that I like hearing about items that are not used anymore, such as a pay phone. It brings back memories of a different era.
Edward X Delaney is chasing a serial killer who doesn't know his sexual identity. He tracked him down in some old-fashioned ways. After I was done with this book, I bought the next book in the series, so I know I liked it.

Not the same Dean Koontz I know
Revisado: 02-24-15
I am a Dean Koontz fan and this was just not up to par. I kept wishing it was over! The story had a good idea, but there was entirely too much explanation. Droning on and on!
Plus, has Koontz "mellowed"? The swear words were things like "holy squat" or stuff like that. I don't like a lot of foul language, but if you have a reason to swear, then just do it. Don't use some idiotic phrase because a 4th grader might be reading it or something like that.
Sorry, Dean Koontz, I didn't enjoy it.

"The Five" Gets Five (stars)
Revisado: 03-11-14
This is an enjoyable book. I got to know the characters and liked some of their "no care" attitudes. The Five is a band with five members - 2 girls and 3 guys. They're like a family. A former soldier thinks that the band blames soldiers for deaths of innocent children. He wants them dead or needs for them to die for his own sanity. I really enjoyed the narration - Nick Landrum even sang some of their songs. I wondered how he could pick out the tune from just a book. Seemed pretty good to me. I liked the concept of hearing what a band does on the road. Also, about how they made money, and what kind of agents they had, etc, because it doesn't seem as exciting as we might think. I'll give it a "High Five".

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic American novel of the Roaring Twenties is beloved by generations of readers and stands as his crowning work. This new audio edition, authorized by the Fitzgerald estate, is narrated by Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain). Gyllenhaal's performance is a faithful delivery in the voice of Nick Carraway, the Midwesterner turned New York bond salesman, who rents a small house next door to the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby....

Go Back in Time
Revisado: 01-22-14
I enjoy listening to older-copyrighted books once in a while. Each era is different. The Great Gatsby is set in the roaring twenties when the 20-30 year olds smoked cigarettes and flirted a lot with each other. To fill up a tank of gas was only $1.20. Gatsby had many parties at his mansion that all were invited to. But it seems that very few people really cared about Gatsby. They only wanted to act like "high society" at his parties. I guess some things never change...however, you will enjoy reading this book. Great classic!
