Historia
Years have passed since the devastating war tore through the heart of the Settled Territories, reshaping the balance of power in ways previously unimaginable. Yet, tranquility remains elusive as the looming threat of the Domes, ancient prisons harboring horrors rivaling that of Hastur, edges closer to unleashing chaos upon the world.

lame
Revisado: 01-25-25
My brother in Christ, this book ain't it. The ending is horrible, and it makes the entire book pointless. Ryun is throwing literal toddler tantrums for about 15 hours. Zack is stoically staring at nonsense and saying Joe Rogan on dmt statements about nothing. The final battle is concluded by literal plot armor saving the bbeg. this book has the breadth of an ocean and the depth of a puddle. Big Sad.

Revisado: 11-05-24
the ending is tedious. I will drop this author if he does another 3 books to fix the mc, especially since our boy just got his full power back this book, and spent most of it hiding it for "politics".

But Matt can be a great tool against the evil forces. TreeTree (as Matt comes to be known) will learn all sorts of skills, gain levels, and in doing so, build up a forest, train young subordinates, protect a village, and more.

falls off pretty quick
Revisado: 08-05-23
Matt, or "treetree", is pretty cool for a couple hours. takes in lost souls, gets some levels and then becomes emotionally and socially retarded. Much like a toddler he says no to things for the sake of saying no.
Why have him be a reincarnator if your just gonna strip away his humanity? The human and non human experimentation and blatant disregard of human and non human life, especially when it would cost him literally nothing to fix most problems. The tree is garbage.
oh, and the dialogue is straight up jank. One villain, who had quite a few lines of dialogue, laughed every sentence out apparently. He teleported away while laughing maniacally as well.
I have 8 hours left of the audiobook, but I'm deleting from my phone and never getting another book by this author.

royal road readers are not a editor.
Revisado: 06-29-22
please use an editor to chop this story into something better than the word soup psycho babble that it has turned to. holy crap, one chapter you said the word limited title like 40 times back to back.
also your audience isn't stupid. you don't need to infer something, then describe it. then give it a back story, and then give examples of how it would be used. we get it.

Historia
After over 20 years in the USMC and coming off a five-year tour as a contractor in Afghanistan, all Talon Clark wanted to do was spend time with his kids and wife on his ranch in Texas. Occasionally, taking a short-term contract job to pay the bills, Talon is marooned in Washington, DC, when the nation is attacked by a series of false flag operations against our infrastructure and is then devastated by a series of EMP attacks. With every major city burning and the nation’s electrical grid down, civil order has deteriorated to the point of no return, at least for the immediate future.

it's bad
Revisado: 08-29-21
This is not a novel, it's a Googled list of what a prepper would want. the first three hours is about finding, listing, describing, and touting obscure military and survival gear. It all just lands in Talons lap, with no effort to gather this gear (which is like a quarter of every good post apocalypse story, you know, the scrabble for resources and the conflict that arises from that.) Also this is a 55 year old man who has to hike 1400 miles, and he has about 300 lbs of gear at three hours in.
Also keeping in track with the recent spate of prepper lists trying to pass for post apocalypse fantasy is the raging hard on for hating democrats, eye roll, this guy is about two steps away from being a frothing neckbeard screaming sheepleat folks.
I don't know how much this author paid for those 5 star reviews, but save your credit for better fare. Thus is a combination of a really bad book, and a mediocre narrator.

Downhill on multiple fronts.
Revisado: 07-22-21
Let's start with just the fundamentals. Chatfield is stubbornly sticking to telling and not showing. Also charging the same price for half a book as one of the full ones is straight shady. A normal book in this series is literally twice as long as these split books. Costs the same as the longer ones though.
My main complaint is that there is no dialog. Every conversation serves as a vehicle for an information dump on topics that have already had information dumps. Sometimes there's an information dump that sums up 3 or 4 other information dumps.
Another point is the oversaturation of povs. there's so many view points that show up just to have a talk that explains in excruciating detail basic stuff that we already know, or serves to tell us how humble everyone is. I'm personally tired of being told how the leaders are so awesome and how they hate to be shown respect.
In conclusion, this series has overshot the talent of the author and has stagnated in chasing too many plots and ideas.

Historia
Infinite Worlds is the most popular VRMMORPG on the market. Its maps are so vast, developer Hard Rock Data utilizes a network of highly advanced artificial intelligences to control it. But it’s not without problems. That’s why Game Masters like Jeff Driscoll have jobs. The downside? He’s not allowed to play the game. Something about conflicts of interest and favoritism. His very boring and tedious job is to help players deal with the occasional bug that slips through the cracks and ensure they enjoy their time playing enough to give a five-star rating.

how many times can you write the word code?
Revisado: 06-14-21
Because that word is mentioned so much by the Mc. Really borrowing from Hollywood on this story, but instead of the computer geek "hacking" everything he just throws around "code" powerful "code" green "code", every 5th word is code. it's insane.

What's the point.
Revisado: 04-08-21
Love the series, but the random fever dream abbadon tangents are always popping up in the middle of fights that I actually care about. I don't really care how a swing of a sword kills 100000000000000s of stars or whatever. This book was a hamster wheel. lots of movement with no distance gained.

was great until the end.
Revisado: 03-10-21
The end reminded me of the end of the third matrix where neo learns of the matrix. In other words, garbage.
I got the next book, but the ending of this book made me not want to continue. I just found myself happier not listening to it. That's how bad the ending is. I'm no longer connected or attached to the Mc.
I feel the ending was needlessly complicated, cruel, and dumb. So I'm going to stick with Drew Hayes for my darker super hero novels. At least he doesn't seem to hate his own main characters.
