This was a beautifully written book. I really enjoyed it. And I LOVED the way the FMC stood up for herself by the end. This is a perfect example of a strong FMC who isn’t super powered.

And the relationship between the guys was just as hot and beautiful as the relationship they each had with her.

All of the performances were excellent. It was a wonderful read.

I had to listen to the narration on 1.5 because it was slow and I had trouble catching the emotion.

The writing feels young. Lots of brands and bands mentioned. Did have to take notes on all the men because otherwise they were all a mess. Once I was able to look at my notes I could tell them apart, but with two groups it got overwhelming.

Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Strong, snarky FMC and MMCs. If you can get past the other stuff, there’s a fun story in there.

Well written. Yanks your heartstrings.

Poorly sold. Having gone through a similar experience to the events described in this story, minus the vision, it managed to bring up a lot of painful memories. I’d never have read it if I had realized what I was getting into, and I will not be reading anything else y this author.

A good approach to life for authors who are using their books to advertise themselves and their other business. Not as useful for full time authors. More of an “approach to life as a business author” book. Not what I was expecting or hoping for, but still good info.

This was the first Audible original I tried listening to. I tried. I really did. I like Stephen Fry usually. In this case though, he couldn't stop stressing the word secret, which got tiring in the first five minutes, and the structure was less secret and more "ham-handed attempt at mystery."

After listening to this and another Audible Original with an A-list narrator, it feels like Audible has more focus on presentation than substance. I probably won't be listening to any more Originals. I'll just go back to my books, thanks.

This is the second Audible Original that I've tried listening to, and I have found both to be disappointing. In this case, while I do suppose that it was fairly polished audio programming, it wasn't a book. There were clips of multiple people all over the place, and it almost felt like the story would have been better told with visuals in addition to the audio.

If they ever actually produce a book of this story, I'd be interested in listening to that.

I was first struck by the fact that it seemed like the author wrote in a first person POV about a female protagonist, and didn't show the book to any women before shipping it off to a publisher. At least, it seemed that way in the opening. There were more than a few bits that did not jive with a female experience.

After making allowances for that, though, I found myself getting caught up in the court intrigue and mysteries presented to Myfawnwy. The world that O'Malley created is curious and fun to explore, and I enjoyed that part of the book immensely.

The narration was good overall. She handled accents and voices well.

My biggest beef is that the author overused flashbacks and underused opportunities for dramatic tellings in the present.

Even with those bones to pick, though, it's a great story, and if you enjoy the supernatural, it's definitely worth a listen. I'll be picking up book 2 shortly.

What made the experience of listening to The Taming of Jessi Rose the most enjoyable?

Thomas Penny has a wonderful, rich voice that is an absolute pleasure to listen to, and he crafts his character voices carefully. Wonderful!

Any additional comments?

This is a fantastic cowboy/historical romance! Mr. Penny has a golden voice, and Ms. Jenkins has a beautiful variety of characters, who are lively and interesting. I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed spending time with the characters, and I enjoyed the history lessons.

I am confused by the categorization of this book. The only reason I heard of it is because someone recommended it to me, because I like historical romance, which this book most definitely is. If my friend had not told me about Ms. Jenkins, I never would have found her, because I don't shop in General Fiction.

This is a terrific and well-studied reminder that America has been arguing with itself since its birth. I felt like the case studies were a little draggy in parts, but when he got to the conclusion, I finally recognized why he had drummed some points home so hard. (The conclusions blew my mind.)

It has helped me have a deeper understanding of the nature of our country's politics, and of the individuals waging the culture wars.

The narrator speaks very clearly and very slowly. I enjoyed his performance much better once I realized I could speed him up.

At the height of the Cold War, a little, old lady walks into CIA headquarters and asks if they could use an extra spy. After the menfolk all goggle and gape, Mrs. Emily Pollifax proves that youth and training aren't necessary to get the job done, provided you keep a cool head and plenty of manners on hand. And a deck of playing cards can be useful for when things get too quiet.

Barbara Rosenblat offers up a wonderful performance. If you like the classic Bond movies, but still believe in girl power, this book is for you!
