Historia
After centuries bound in Alfheim, Odin escapes, only to find himself trapped in the fathomless darkness of Svartalfheim. What will he do when his only ally is a woman who no longer trusts him? Svartalfheim is home to the strange and corrupt dark elf courts. Eager for Odin’s oracular sight, they pull him into their unending power struggles. And while the king is missing, the world hurtles toward Ragnarok. If Hermod cannot find and retrieve Odin, Midgard faces annihilation on all sides.

A marvelous retelling of the Prose Edda.
Larkin has filled in the details in an imaginative and entertaining way. I did not think that I would read all 9 books when I started, but when each ended I went immediately to the next.
And Ulf Bjorklund’s skillful performance of the text was among the best readers I have yet heard.

Heroic science. Chaotic politics. Billionaire entrepreneurs. Award-winning journalist Brendan Borrell brings the defining story of our times alive through compulsively enjoyable, first-time reporting on the players leading the fight against a vicious virus. The First Shots, soon to be the subject of an HBO limited series with superstar director and producer Adam McKay (Succession, Vice, The Big Short), draws on exclusive, high-level access to weave together the intense vaccine-race conflicts.

A skillfully and entertainingly written book that does a very good job of describing both the technology of the COVID vaccine development and the difficulties of working in a highly politicized Washington.
The dedication. And effectiveness of the scientists and operational team leads for vaccine production and deployment is clearly described.
I highly recommend the audio book which is very skillfully read.

Historia
Before smartphones, back even before the Internet and personal computer, a misfit group of technophiles, blind teenagers, hippies, and outlaws figured out how to hack the world’s largest machine: the telephone system. Starting with Alexander Graham Bell’s revolutionary "harmonic telegraph", by the middle of the 20th century the phone system had grown into something extraordinary, a web of cutting-edge switching machines and human operators that linked together millions of people like never before. But the network had a billion-dollar flaw, and once people discovered it, things would never be the same.

Nice technology history
Revisado: 02-06-21
A nice technological, legal, and cultural history of the phone system and it’s hackers in the mid-20th c., and how they laid the foundation of the modern personal computer.
A bit long in places, but still interesting enough that I easily listened to the entire story.

Historia
In this exciting true adventure mixed with amazing scientific study, a young, exuberant explorer and geoscientist journeys deep into the Amazon - where rivers boil and legends come to life. When Andrés Ruzo was just a small boy in Peru, his grandfather told him the story of a mysterious legend: There is a river, deep in the Amazon, that boils as if a fire burns below it. Twelve years later, Ruzo - now a geoscientist - hears his aunt mention that she herself had visited this strange river....

The modern and the ancient
Revisado: 03-28-16
A very nicely done combination of personal discovery, scientific discovery and scientific field work. These are combined with a powerful message of preservation of the unique Amazon ecology which is under continuous and voracious attack by both poachers and modernity. The audio book is read by the author who is quite skilled at this and the personal inflections are a valuable contribution to the impact of the story. Get the Kindle book and follow along for both the place names and for the well chosen images in each chapter.
