Great story, mediocre narrator and editing
Revisado: 05-20-21
First I want to preface this by saying the story and charcters are great. it's your classic sci fi hero saga. A hero changes the face of the universe. It deals with alot of political nuances with other planets. and overall is well done.
if you're looking for space combat or sci fi laser battles, it has these but they are not offered much fanfare. it's more about the journey of discovering technology and human rights.
The cons of this is the narrator. It took some getting used too, but he is extremely dull. I find myself day dreaming on and off and having to rewind because his voice melded into the background noise. The differences between character voices are imperceptible which neccesarily isn't a bad thing. I dont expect every narrator to have a differnt voice. But there are times where there isn't enough of a pause or some change to better signal the differnt characters speech since the writing style blends conversations without a "he said she said" before or after. Often times you will be confused at who is speaking since the books have a tendency to jump around to different persons alot.
in general it's as if your elderly grandfather is reading you a story, intending to put you to sleep.
There is also many many times that you can tell it was edited poorly. This mainly manifests itself in the form of Missing words or extremely long pauses that seem out of place. It took me a bit to realise its the recording and not my audio system.
Overall I'd still reccomend this series even though the below par narrator and editing issues.

Historia
Patrick Bateman moves among the young and trendy in 1980s Manhattan. Young, handsome, and well educated, Bateman earns his fortune on Wall Street by day while spending his nights in ways we cannot begin to fathom. Expressing his true self through torture and murder, Bateman prefigures an apocalyptic horror that no society could bear to confront.

Not my cup of tea.
Revisado: 07-07-20
after the first couple chapters this book starts to pick up into the psycho fit of statement in all honesty it's not my cup of tea I'm used to gore and the minutest details of it but this kind of turned out to just be torture porn. I'm not really into it and I'm not regretting finishing the book but it is definitely not something I would recommend for someone who doesn't have the stomach for Gore and this is coming from someone who absolutely adores horror fiction Etc so read at your own risk.
the deeper story of the book is pretty well written in the way Bateman's insanity is described. its based in how far apart descriptors of clothing and descriptors of torture is. it's done really well and I would give this a full five stars for story but I have to give it a three simply for how disturbing and sickening a lot of the story is.

Amazing.
Revisado: 07-01-20
When I was looking at the beginning of the original series a review caught my eye about how terrible and nasty the characters were. This person never read past the first few chapters of book 1 in the entire series.
I loved every second of this series and urge anyone thinking about reading it to hurry up and do so. Well written, well performed, satisfying ending that gives you hope for the characters future.
