Historia
When Keith Stoner awoke, he found himself in a world changed almost beyond recognition. Eighteen years before, Stoner had been the American member of a joint U.S.-Soviet mission to capture an alien ship. The Soviets had to pull out, but Stoner persisted, and while on the strange ship, he fell into suspended animation.

Boring. Went nowhere in 2 books.
Revisado: 04-01-23
Seriously that could have been summed up in three paragraphs. I feel duped. Some of the best novels require long setups. For that reason I got book two and sat through it. At the 8-hour mark I knew I was watching paint dry. I finished, yup, the paint’s dry. That’s all. No epiphany, no cool concepts, just dry paint.

Just amazing. You can’t put it down. I can’t believe I just found this. Binged 5 books in 2 weeks. Funny as all hell. This is so good it’s not even in the same league as most of the 100’s of other series I’ve done. I can’t wait for book 6. I fear it’s a year out.

Historia
For years, the ancient alien AI known as Skippy (the Magnificent, don’t forget that part) has been able to do one impossible thing after another. What is his secret? It’s simple: 100 percent Grade-A extreme awesomeness. And also because he had never been faced with an opponent of equal power. Until now. This time, he might need a little help from a band of filthy monkeys.

Excellent installment. I’m hoping they’re wrapping up there series. It would be really cool to see a conclusion.

If you’ve come this far, you’re in it till the end. Only complaint was the RC Bray didn’t use his Jeraptha voices as much this time. I thought they were Mavericks or Humans many times. But it’s was an epic book. Did not disappoint.

It’s interesting but not realistic. This could have been really good. I think I was hoping for what it would mean to the public vs a bunch of paper thing bureaucrats. That part was missed completely. No heart in this story. Disappointing.

The problem with lying about having a super weapon is that the bad guys might believe they have nothing to lose by doing something stupid that both sides will regret. Or, they might just call your bluff. Either way, the Merry Band of Pirates need a plan to deal with the Fallout.

Excellent narration, frustrating writing, goodish.
Revisado: 12-09-21
The narrator made this worthy. The main character was prone to horrible decisions and mired by lame guilt that stopped obvious solutions to his problems time and time again. I got bored a few times and had to power through it. I think this might get better in the later books if they keep the same reader. I'll see.
It's a fresh look and a magic story. Realistic sort of, at least grounded and not just stupid. Some cool little bits and pieces to learn in it, as well. I hope it gets better. Book 2 in a month or two when I get bored with the 10 books in my que I haven't opened yet. I'm not dying to start the next one. A truly good series with a bunch of books in it and I'll devour the whole thing in a row. That's not the case here, yet.

How could they let this guy read this book????
Revisado: 12-09-21
The narrator wasn't the author so there's no excuse. Did they just find a guy? He couldn't or wouldn't do accents. The characters are all one thing. I couldn't tell if I was hearing an alien or a human. Could have used a physical description of the aliens. Was there an editor? How did he/she miss this?
I might have to return this on principle to protest lazy publication. This is not what audible should be. Do better.
Have R.C. Bray read this and I'll buy it again and love it. But edit it first to include the details that one must know in order to form a mental picture please.

Tons of potential and it delivered only a little.
Revisado: 12-09-21
There was serious room to work for this author. The premise and major plot sets were amazing. It had all the makings of something like, "I am Pilgrim," by Terry Hayes - which is a book I wish had more behind it. Did Terry Hayes die? How can he not have another novel after something that good? Anyways...Read that if you haven't already and are thinking about buying this.
This was like a masterpiece of a setup and then a county fair roller coaster. It dove in and out of good storytelling. It wasted a bunch of time on a forced love story struggle that just bored me but I kept with it because I wanted to get to the good parts. And there were good parts.
This is one of those books, that maybe should get a rewrite by an author with some serious chops and it could flesh out into a mega hit. Instead it was just an ok read. I don't really think about it after having finished it. But I'm not sorry I bought it or spent the time. Some of the concepts were original and the narrator did a good job.
The timeline work was lacking. Bordering on impossible. But looking past that, it was fine. I'm disappointed it wasn't fantastic. Felt like it would be easy to revise this book myself and make it pop. I'm not even a writer. The frame was solid. The detail was all laid out. It got clogged with the messy love story, but that wasn't a deal breaker, it just destroyed the momentum.
Worth a shot if you're bored. It's not Female Chemist Reacher - which would have been cool. It's like Chemist Danielle Steele character meets a Brad Thor novel. Dog people will like it more than cat people.

Great content. New look at first contact.
Revisado: 09-28-21
I really wanted someone to explore a reasonable response to first contact without immediately jumping to interstellar travel.
This book did that albeit with a little more bland personal dialectic than I cared for. The women were pretty stale, but that could have been the narration. There wasn’t much enthusiasm in the performance. Kind of a depressed reading. But the book is good and I’ll buy the next. This came out in 2019 and was a best seller. It’s almost 2022.
Something is wrong with author or publishing co I suspect.
