And while there are cracks beginning to show in Acapulco because of the drug cartels, her life is, by and large, fairly comfortable. Historia
From one of Britain's most celebrated writers of color, Girl, Woman, Other is a magnificent portrayal of the intersections of identity and a moving and hopeful story of an interconnected group of black British women. Winner of the 2019 Booker Prize and short-listed for the Gordon Burn Prize, Girl, Woman, Other paints a vivid portrait of the state of post-Brexit Britain, as well as looking back to the legacy of Britain's colonial history in Africa and the Caribbean.

One of the best books I’ve read in years!
Revisado: 01-27-20
The stories of this vast array of characters were absolutely captivating with insights into their history, their relationships and their feelings. Anyone who is navigating the contemporary world of gender identity, sexuality, and relationships - meaning ALL of us - should read Girl, Woman, Other. It will hopefully help us bridge the unnecessary chasms that can open up when we don’t understand and accept those who have lived a different experience than our own. Outstanding read!!

A must read story!
Revisado: 10-07-19
Every citizen of developed countries should read this moving story to understand better the travails endured by refugees and asylum seekers who have faced the unspeakable. Perhaps we will be more willing to open our hearts and our borders if we have a small inkling of what others have lost.

Historia
On May 1, 1915, with WWI entering its tenth month, a luxury ocean liner as richly appointed as an English country house sailed out of New York, bound for Liverpool, carrying a record number of children and infants. The passengers were surprisingly at ease, even though Germany had declared the seas around Britain to be a war zone. For months, German U-boats had brought terror to the North Atlantic.

Gripping story!
Revisado: 10-15-15
Based on a true story and we know the outcome, but Larson keeps us on the edge of our seats by pulling together the disparate stories from so many sources to create an awesome narrative. Loved it!!
Brick's narration is well done.

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.
