Historia
St. Louis in 1880 is full of ghosts - mangled soldiers, tortured slaves, the innocent victims of war - and Jacob Tracy can see them all. Ever since Antietam, when he lay delirious among the dead and dying, Trace has been haunted by the country's restless spirits. The curse cost him his family, his calling to the church, and damn near his sanity. He stays out of ghost-populated cities as much as possible these days, guiding wagon trains west with his pragmatic and skeptical partner, Boz.

Wonderfully Creative - I want more!
Revisado: 09-27-23
I cannot imaging how an author comes up with such a creative and involved story - one that is so complex and keeps the reader going and going. I certainly wish she would write more. This was such a good book. I have the ebook and the audible and whereas I also loved the The Romance of Certain Old Bones, that was too short. Please, please - more books! Im old and I've read a million books and this really stands out.

The best sleep stories around
Revisado: 07-13-23
I am so happy to have found this series. I have trouble getting to sleep and while I love the audiobooks for that, it’s so hard to find a perfect one. Either the narrator has a sharp voice - far too many in that category - or you stay awake to find out what happens. These are simply comforting stories told by a comforting voice. Thanks much. it works.

Wonderful, just wonderful!
Revisado: 07-12-23
I’ve been looking for something just like this and really just stumbled upon it. The stories are so simple yet filled with lovely descriptions. Her voice is soothing and familiar. The combination really puts you to sleep without wondering ’how does this end?’ I have a lot of apps with sleep stories but these are by far the best. Wonderful!!!

Historia
Reeling from her losses and trying to regroup, the Great White Shark of psychic investigation turns her focus on self-improvement, though her remaining friends call it self-flagellation. Marnie is determined to move forward at maximum warp, trauma be damned. A prospective client named Beau Boudreaux shows up in her office with a peanut butter addiction and a plea for Marnie to protect him from his ex-girlfriend: Pestilence, the First Horseman of the Apocalypse. His story is hard to swallow, but heading off Armageddon seems like a spiffy distraction.

Far too predictable!
Revisado: 09-30-22
Saw that ending from the very beginning. The biggest problem with this book is there is one basic theme and Aalto beats that drum over and over like the proverbial old dead horse. Yes, some little side stories that were good but you were always aware that the big ending was coming closer and closer. The very fact that Marnie is boo hoo hoo-ing so constantly, page after page after page has to say something else, yeah? I wish it (no spoilers here but I am amazed everyone did NOT get IT sooner) had been brought out earlier in the book and not CONSTANTLY hinted at, over and over and freeking over. Shame as most Aalto books are far more complex and interesting. I ended up getting an epub from the library to speed read to the end.

too wokie for me - why so political?
Revisado: 06-01-22
This whole book keeps pulling up weird immigration problems. They get stopped in their stolen BMW and the highway patrol thinks these 'two Mexicans' shouldn't be in a nice car? He leaves the child in the car while he goes into the gas station store and some (white) woman (Cline makes sure you know she is white) starts in on him with a 'you people' stance about leaving the child in the car and she's going to call the police on him. The child tells him she was put into cages at the border and how horrible miserable all the latino/latina children were treated. That they were made fun of because of their 'brown skin' and on and on and on. The 'pity the poor immigrant' just never freeking stops. Pulls you right up out of the story. No real connection, Cline? Where and why did you get all this political s*it?
Super repetitive. Same stuff over and over and over. I keep trying because I (used to) like Cline. Now not so much. All the Lovecraftian vomiting of alien bugs? WTF is he going with this? Really gross and disturbing and nobody - particularly a small child - could vomit out gallons and gallons and gallons of bile and bugs at one go. Not physically possible. Not sure I can finish.

Werder’s child’s voice like screeching razor blades!
Revisado: 02-21-21
The story is good. Solid. Full of interesting people but my goodness, every time that child Makara makes an appearance, I have to quickly turn down the sound. When the child is really happy or really scared, it’s like screeching, high pitched razor blades slicing through my brain. So disturbing! Why Werder thinks ANY child sounds like this I just dunno. I’ll give it a little longer but will probably do a swap on this one. Just awful and you cannot predict when the child - a MAIN character- will appear — but it’s too often for me.

Historia
The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true.... While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war.

MORE, please sir, a little more?
Revisado: 12-21-20
You know how you'll read a review for a SF book and it will say "if you liked Firefly"? and they hold this new book up to those high standards? Well THIS is the real thing. You are back on Serenity, back in the black, with all the characters. Lebbon knows our friends inside out and Foster narrates perfectly. Right now there are only four but hopefully with enough sales and enough good reviews there will be more. I WANT MORE!! I have a purse like old Scrooge - open and moths fly out but I've bought all of these and the ebooks too and I am ready to buy MORE PLEASE!

Yet River Tam can read it, and says it leads to one of the Arks - legendary ships that brought humans from Earth-that-was to the 'Verse. The salvage potential alone is staggering.
