Informative but old & incredibly boring

This book is so outdated it tells you to pack a CD with music for labour. There are a lot of lists, dry information and the reader's voice is monotone. Could be good to flip through as a reference guide, but listening to the whole thing is very difficult.
There is also a lot more space dedicated to pregnancy and toddler age than I expected from a book titled "Newborn 101", there are maybe 5 chapters on newborn care.
Plenty of "go and look at this website" or "read about this on that website".
Also very american in focus.

Great Stoyrteller

The plot itself did not appeal to me, but I gave it a go after a friend recommended it. Rowell is a fantastic storyteller, she brings the characters alive and I find myself suddenly caring very much about them. What really disappointed me was the ending. There wasn't one. I was very surprised when the story suddenly ended at what story wise is perhaps 2/3 through the character and plot development. Partly it is a testament to the writer's ability that I find this so upsetting. But it takes away from the story for me, that the book ends so suddenly and without allowing the characters to achieve something significant. Perhaps there is a sequel? It feels more like a short story than a novel. I really would have liked to know what happens next.

That sums up the whole book. Any YouTube clip or article about the Fast 800 will tell you everything you need to know. This book is only useful if you are interested in anecdotal evidence and summaries of scientific studies that support the authors idea. And there are recipes in the back.

Dieses Buch besteht aus 80% aus Nachdenken oder Gesprächen über Künstliche Intelligenz und Parallel Universen und wie die Existenz von beidem die Bedeutung unseres Lebens beeinflusst. 15% ausschweifende und poetische Beschreibungen von Orten und Menschen und 5% Handlung. Nicht worauf ich gehofft hatte als ich mein Geld dafür ausgegeben habe. Für mich war dieses Buch furchtbar langweilig und um die 20h zu lang. Ich wünschte die Buch Beschreibungen würde einen warnen dass dies ein philosophisches Buch ist in dem nur alle 5Stunden Mal was passiert.

Only enjoy able for a specific subset of nerds

I imagine people who like this kinda thing will love it, everyone else will be bored to tears.
This is basically an artificial intelligence on a spaceship doing spaces stuff. Building things, thinking about building things, occassionalky a very calm spacefight with another AI. not much actually happens. You will like this if you enjoy listening to technical space stuff thought out. otherwise dear Lord it is boring.
