Historia
Stephen Smith is the boy who did not exist. Born out of wedlock in the early 1960s, Steve's parents - both devout Catholics - had felt so 'shamed' by their son's illegitimate birth that they hid him away from the world by locking him in the cellar...for 13 years. Apart from a few admissions to hospital as a result of his 'imprisonment', Steve remained in the coal cellar of the family home where he was deprived of daylight, his childhood, school and human contact until he'd reached his teenage years.

This book had me riveted from the first sentence. This man bravely told his story, regardless of how hard it must have been.

Historia
Born into hell. Baptism by betrayal. His life revolves around violence. My life is on the line. I'm trapped both physically and emotionally. A pawn in a game I didn't know I was playing. Until I met him. Pike acts without emotion, but I know he feels something for me. I see it in his eyes when he looks at me. I feel it when he's close. I know it's real because I feel it too. Lust. Desire. It complicates everything.

Great story line
Revisado: 09-08-21
This was a great book. However, I seriously wish the author could have forgone the few sentences that were political. By having the Fourth Reich’s chants mock Trump’s phrases, the author pulled a Hollywood stunt by trying a bit to turn our minds against a political party by using art. I always enjoy this author, but this very small portion of this book will make me think twice before reading another of her books. That breaks my heart, but reading fiction is an escape for me. I do not want real world events and propaganda getting in the way of that.

Good info
Revisado: 08-19-21
I thought this was going to go a little deeper into explaining dna, but it was still good information. She did a good job of showing herself to be not in the least bit racist. However, she did sneak in some “woke” stuff. Still, not as much as one may assume might be in there, especially when talking so much about race.

Historia
Imagine never being able to close your eyes and remember the feel of your mother’s arms wrapped around you. Now imagine closing your eyes and remembering your mother’s tears splashing down on your face as she is on top of you, crying as she is trying to choke you to death. My mother left me these memories and many more during my traumatic childhood. After many years of struggling with trying to understand "Why me?" I took back control of my life and started saying, "It was me, now what am I going to do?" The answer is my book, "Why Me?"

This book goes through a series of events that are hard to hear, but the fact that she had to live through them makes you want to see it through. This is a beautiful story of human survival, and how your past doesn’t have to predict your future. Well told and well read.

How did a New York-born, Jewish, former-atheist novelist and screenwriter - a winner of multiple Edgar Awards, whose books became films with Clint Eastwood and Michael Douglas - find himself at the age of 50 being baptized and confessing Jesus as Lord? That's a tale worth telling.

This guy ❤️
Revisado: 04-25-21
I found Andrew Klavan on The Daily Wire. He quickly became my favorite commentator, and was actually able to change my mind on some things. He has been able to show me how to be a more compassionate social conservative. His view on politics is much like my Daddy’s was.
So, reading his conversion to Christianity was a must for me. And I’m so happy I did. This is a must read for any who just like autobiographies, for those who like to hear about other’s conversion stories, but mostly for those who are still on the fence about Christianity.
To the great Andrew Klavan: Thank you for sharing your story. Thank you for helping me remember my dad, even if it is through no fault of your own. Also, thank you for your willingness to share your wisdom with the world.

The movie was actually better
Revisado: 03-22-21
I watched this movie the other day and thought if the movie was that good, the book must be amazing. Was I wrong!! I’m actually glad the movie had the ending it did so I didn’t have to guess at what came next. Also, the book gave a little more insight into Joe’s thoughts, but not nearly as much as I was hoping for. It is well written, though, and well read.
