An afternoon read that will stick for days!
Revisado: 02-04-21
While I was able to complete this in an afternoon, I had to go back and listen again and really ruminate on what I had just read. The story is simple but it forces the reader to reflect far longer upon the ways that we judge each other, that we act upon one another, that we shape the future through our understanding- and lack of understanding- of each other. Even our best intentions can be ruinous.

Historia
While the fate of the world rested on Noah’s shoulders, the survival of the human race rested on hers. The young heroine in Sinners and the Sea is destined for greatness. Known only as “wife” in the Bible and cursed with a birthmark that many think is the brand of a demon, this unnamed woman - fated to become the mother of all generations after the great flood - lives anew through Rebecca Kanner.

Great story with fun twists. I didn't like the central characters as much as in Moving Castle but still a fun story.

Historia
When you listen to Lily and the Octopus, you will be taken on an unforgettable ride. The magic of this novel is in the listening, and we don't want to spoil it by giving away too many details. We can tell you that this is a story about that special someone: the one you trust, the one you can't live without. For Ted Flask, that someone special is his aging companion, Lily, who happens to be a dog.

Great story, Meh reader.
Revisado: 10-09-17
I really liked this story, excellent world-building and characterization. The reader I did not care for. She speaks too breathy and monotone. A few times she messed up one of the main character's names (Kai pronounced K-eye but she mistakenly said K-ay.) And her voice characterization was so slight that it was sometimes hard to know which character that she was portraying in the conversation. When she was reading descriptive narrative, she was too monotone and did not give the scene enough intensity. Overall, I probably would have enjoyed reading the physical book more than listening but the story was interesting enough to move past the narration.

Fascinating stuff but probably better in print
Revisado: 03-28-17
Any additional comments?
This was a really interesting book but I think that I would have enjoyed it more in print. There are diagrams that the print book has to illustrate what the author is discussing and I think this is the type of book that I would have wanted to underline and make notes in the margin. A truly fascinating subject matter and well written. You can tell the writer is passionate.
