Historia
In the winter of 1918, at the height of World War I, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century. But this was not the Middle Ages, and 1918 marked the first collision between modern science and epidemic disease.

Absolutely Brilliantly Terrifying!
Revisado: 04-11-22
Reading this historical documentary regarding the Great Flu written before Covid and then knowing what parallels still exists today as Covid continues to impact our world is both fascinating and scary as hell! Will mankind learn from our past mistakes? This book really makes the reader question what we truly have learned.

The Comprehensive Experience
Revisado: 05-01-21
This is a behind the scenes and the between the lines expose of the famous battle that almost spelled doom for the republic that stands today. The author explores the many angles, missed opportunities, victories and losses by the leaders of both sides. The reader is given a unique experience of what these horrible yet incredible days in our fragile history were like in early 19th Century warfare of which methods used were not much more beyond the art of war methods used to fight for our American independence; yet in some ways so much more deadly. This is truly an amazing look at the battle that many say was the turning point in the Civil War.

Historia
The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi. 13 Hours presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism.

Captivating
Revisado: 10-22-16
Rarely do I read (or listen in this case) to a book that keeps you drawn into the story. 13 Hours draws you into what truly happened in Benghazi contrary to what our current political administration has chosen to deny or forget. These soldiers are true American Heroes that sacrificed all to save all. These men should be forever honored and those politicians that chose to ignore all warnings and calls for help should be forever shamed.

Historia
The ordeal of the whaleship Essex was an event as mythic in the nineteenth century as the sinking of the Titanic was in the twentieth. In 1819 the Essex left Nantucket for the South Pacific with 20 crew members aboard. In the middle of the South Pacific the ship was rammed and sunk by an angry sperm whale. The crew drifted for more than 90 days in three tiny whaleboats, succumbing to weather, hunger, and disease and ultimately turning to drastic measures in the fight for survival.

Incredibly wonderful tragedy
Revisado: 11-19-15
This is the rare book that once starred cannot be put down. When I finished I felt like I had lost a member of my family. I hope the upcoming movie will be half as good.

Historia
Mika Brzezinski is at war against obesity. She believes the fearsome subjects of food, diet, and body image are "radioactive" in America, and getting worse. On Morning Joe, she is often so adamant about improving America’s eating habits that some people have dubbed her "the food Nazi". What they don’t know is that Mika wages a personal fight against food every day, and in Obsessed, she describes her history of food obsession, distorted body image, and her struggle to be thin. She believes it is time we stop blaming and shaming ourselves and look at the real culprits - the food we eat and our addiction to it.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!
Revisado: 05-10-13
What disappointed you about Obsessed?
Should come with a warning for all men," This is for women", It was like listening to a woman endlessly discussing gossip and name dropping. Sure, there were some tidbits of good information mingled within the context, but the rest is just the same chapter information revisited over and over again! I suggest that if you want to read a book that will change your life you listen to, "Salt, Sugar, Fat and How the Food Giants Have Hooked Us", by Michael Moss. This WILL change your eating habits and your life. The author has missed that point that until we as a nation, and a government all fight the "Food Giants" of Industrialized Prefab Foods, America will still forever be FAT! First time ever, but I will be sending this one back.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something that has more substance.
What didn’t you like about Mika Brzezinski’s performance?
Again, Blah, Blah, Blah.....rambling!
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Did show the reader that our perception of public figures is quite decieving and fickle.
Any additional comments?
Listen to, "Salt, Sugar, Fat and How the Food Giants Have Hooked Us", by Michael Moss. This WILL change your eating habits and your life.
