Great story with several surprises.

I really enjoyed the story and there were many turns that surprised me. A touching mystery about the struggles with postpartum depression and the unawareness of the condition. A story I couldn’t stop listening to. The one strange thing was the odd change in narration when Grace’s sister entered the story.

This is the best book I've listen to in a long time.

This book keeps you captivated. The author does a fabulous job of peeking your interest to find out the incident at the center of the story. She does an excellent job of going back and forth between the "day of the picnic" and after the picnic. An interesting insight to the problems families have.

What would have made The Innocent: A Novel better?
The general story is a good one but it becomes very convoluted. Way too many traitors to be believable. But, by far the worst was the "computerized sounding female voice. It is so obvious the conversations were done separately and off the female voice was speeded up to fit into the conversation correctly. It was very distracting.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The end was a surprise but again, not very believable.
