Shows Emperors Children at the beginning of their fall to Slaanesh
Revisado: 04-30-25
Very good story of Emperors Children. Still held together but already starting to fray. Like the progression from beginning to end.

Historia
On the prison world of Zartak, darkness has fallen on arbitrators and inmates alike. The Night Lords have come, bringing with them the shadow of fear and pain. But these monsters are not the only ones with an interest in Zartak. From the void, running on silent, another fleet emerges. These Space Marine warriors are grey-clad and white-faced, and their eyes are as black as the Outer Dark – the savage Carcharodon Astra.

Surprisingly good!
Revisado: 03-07-25
Honestly, got it because it was 90% off. Was surprised by how much i enjoyed the story. Not nearly as predictable and characters not one dimensional like a lot of “space marine” stories. Went ahead and got “Outer Darkness” as well after finishing this one because I enjoyed it so much.

Historia
Transplant. Cadian. Sniper. Legend. Sergeant Darya Nevic is all of these and more… but behind the stories stands a soldier haunted by the unwelcome fame her successes have brought. During the Cadian 217th’s assault on the manufactorum world of Attruso, Darya finds herself out of her depth in a war that is fought with words as much as with weapons. As a fearsome winter closes in and her men begin to die around her, she will be forced to confront her doubts and make an impossible choice – to become the figurehead her soldiers need, or to believe the unimaginable promises of the mysterious t’au.

Enemy at the gates, warhammer 40k style
Revisado: 02-15-25
Good story if a little predictable, voice acting was good, not great. I really enjoy the dynamic between the trueborn groups and the transplants in their regiments, the prejudice that occurs. Felt human.

Surprised by how much i enjoyed this one.
Revisado: 02-07-25
All respect to Dan Abnett, but i have to say, i think Mike Brooks is the most talented writer going for Black Library right now. Whether it is Orks, primarchs, chaos marines, drukari or navigators. He is absolutely amazing at taking one dimensional, archetypal characters and fleshing them out, making them relatable and feel like real people with the fears, concerns, strengths, and weaknesses that we all possess.

Historia
When the flow of desperately needed weapons for the Astra Militarum slows to nothing from a newly founded forge world, there’s only one man able and (un)willing to investigate…Ciaphas Cain, Hero of the Imperium. With Cain’s desperately sought-after retirement on the line, the Imperium’s most reluctant commissar must navigate insidious assassination attempts against his person, legions of mutinous skitarii, heresy within the upper echelons of the Adeptus Mechanicus itself… and a hidden foe, pulling the strings, with an agenda that could threaten the future of Imperial rule in the Damocles Gulf.

Cause this chain has become my favorite character in the Warhammer 40k universe, and Steven Perry voice has become the voice in my head when I think of him. Excellent story.

Mike Brooka has a way of taking archetypes and fleshing them out into “real” characters. Great story that will keep you guessing.
