I was scared of reading this. I absolutely loved book two but was let down by book one and three, so it was with trepidation and low expectations that I started this one. Boy was I surprised! This was the funniest book I’ve ever read. I never took a gap year but I have stayed in hostels and Barcelona is my favorite city so this book was right up my alley. The book is entertaining and I wasn’t sure how it’d end. I only wish we had had an epilogue. The narration was also superb. Well worth it!

I’m not entirely sure why these books are getting so many great reviews. The only good book so far was The Takeover. Even though I adore CJ Bloom, I think they should’ve picked a narrator who had a real English accent. As for the story… ugh. These two people start hooking up even though she reports directly to him as his employee, but at no point (until WAY later in the book) do they think “oh. We probably shouldn’t be doing this” or “hey, if anyone finds out, the FMC will be cast as a ladder climber while the MMC goes about his day unscathed”. There were so many moments where I rolled my eyes and thought how dumb, or entitled, these people were. I’m going to read the last book, but so far… not impressed. It was entirely too long, and the middle of it was boring.

Thankfully I read The Takeover which was Miles better than this one (see what I did there?). But seriously, Jameson is basically a spoiled brat with the emotional intelligence of a toddler. And everyone keeps saying “what?!” Or “what the hell?!” Every other question. The first half of the book was great. The second half was infuriating. If this is your first book, either don’t give up and read The Takeover, or just skip this one. The next book is SO much better!

My book club picked this one to read. I wasn’t that excited because the tropes weren’t my favorite, but boy am I happy I read it! First, the narrators did an excellent job. There were a couple of editing misses, but nothing that would distract from the story. The story, though, I absolutely loved it. I don’t cry with books and I was holding tears and legit laughing out loud with this one. The best part is that Tristan isn’t a “perfect” cinnamon roll. He has feelings, boundaries, he shows emotions and he doesn’t take shit. I love that he wasn’t just a golden retriever. I fell HARD for him. I do wish there had been an epilogue to the book. But I give this a 5 because I would absolutely read it again!

This book grabbed me by the throat and did not let go the entire time. Talk about tension!!! I loved both of them so much. Miles is perfection. The two of them together was magic! I gave it a 5 because I would 100% read this book again! Loved it!

First, the narrators are great. Second, I have read several books by this author and I’ve loved them. However, I thought about DNFing this so many times! But I spent money on it so I stuck around. It was painful to get through it. First, the reason for staying married was just silly. The amount of times their inner monologue was about “he/she’s doing this for optics. They don’t really like me that way” was annoying and so immature, even though the other person was being VERY clear about how they felt (except for saying the L word). I couldn’t connect to the characters. Even their romance lacked the consuming feelings that two people in love usually show in these types of books. It just felt very flat. I can’t believe so many of the reviews were positive. I’d 100% skip this one.

This was a cute book that dealt with very sad subjects. Death of parents, a brother, a significant other, and the ramifications of the trauma left behind. Mare has the patience of a SAINT. She takes command of the situation and goes for what she wants. Lola was so fun to read. But Ozzy… poor Ozzy was so broken and hesitant the entire book. I wouldn’t have been able to deal with some of the things he’d say or his reactions to situations. It’s a nice book and you won’t regret reading it.

Loved the beginning of the book. Wasn’t a fan of Rhys’ work and that whole side of it. I don’t know. Also I feel like we missed a big opportunity regarding his parentage and past. Still a good read. And the narrators were superb.

Pretty sure there’s a picture of this book under “miscommunication” in the dictionary. I get that the story starts when they’re young, but the ENTIRE reason for this book is Cade being an idiot and Mare having low self-esteem. Another book in which they miss out on years together because the man tried to make a choice for the woman instead of freaking TALKING and letting her think for herself. Then when the story picks up Cade makes absolutely no sense and is mad at her because “she listened”??? Seriously?? Had a really hard time finishing it. That said, the book is well written and the performance was excellent.
