Historia
"The Israel Lobby" by John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt was one of the most controversial articles in recent memory. Now in a work of major importance, Mearsheimer and Walt deepen and expand their argument and confront recent developments in Lebanon and Iran. They describe the remarkable level of material and diplomatic support that the United States provides to Israel and argues that this support cannot be fully explained on either strategic or moral grounds.

Historia
When Thomas Roe arrived in India in 1616 as James I’s first ambassador to the Mughal Empire, the English barely had a toehold in the subcontinent. Their understanding of South Asian trade and India was sketchy at best, and, to the Mughals, they were minor players on a very large stage. Roe was representing a kingdom that was beset by financial woes and deeply conflicted about its identity as a unified ‘Great Britain’ under the Stuart monarchy.

Not the type of history i was going for...
Revisado: 11-18-23
yah unfortunately im not going to finish this one, i get its trying to tell history through very personal accounts and stories but it reads more like a non fiction novel than history... its hard to follow the overall timeline and historical narrative because of the frequent deep dives into very personal and quite frankly , uninteresting personal stories, it was not very cohesive to me and almost impossible for me to follow.

Historia
For as long as we’ve studied human cognition, we’ve believed that our senses give us direct access to the world. What we see is what’s really there—or so the thinking goes. But new discoveries in neuroscience and psychology have turned this assumption on its head. What if rather than perceiving reality passively, your mind actively predicts it?

great read
Revisado: 08-03-23
really a great read, if your into things like psycho cybernetics it just makes a lot of sense and i love how actionable the information is and how you can really do things to hack your brain and way of thinking.
my only critic is that the sevond part of the book could have been an entire book on its own (and i hope it will be) on the extended brain, so i got thrown off a little bit but it was good none the less.

Historia
Modern nationalism in northeastern Europe has often led to violence and then reconciliation between nations with bloody pasts. In this fascinating book, Timothy Snyder traces the emergence of Polish, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, and Belarusian nationhood over four centuries, discusses various atrocities (including the first account of the massive Ukrainian-Polish ethnic cleansings of the 1940s), and examines Poland's recent successful negotiations with its newly independent Eastern neighbors, as it has channeled national interest toward peace.

just a textbook, no real story to help you take in all the facts, no cohesiveness.

Historia
The First World War is one of history’s greatest tragedies. In this remarkable and intimate account, author G. J. Meyer draws on exhaustive research to bring to life the story of how the Great War reduced Europe’s mightiest empires to rubble, killed 20 million people, and cracked the foundations of the world we live in today. World War I is unique in the number of questions about it that remain unsettled. After more than 90 years, scholars remain divided on these questions, and it seems likely that they always will.

Historia
In Why We’re Polarized, Klein reveals the structural and psychological forces behind America’s descent into division and dysfunction. Neither a polemic nor a lament, this book offers a clear framework for understanding everything from Trump’s rise to the Democratic Party’s leftward shift to the politicization of everyday culture. America is polarized, first and foremost, by identity. Everyone engaged in American politics is engaged, at some level, in identity politics.

Biased constrained well ....till the end
Revisado: 11-08-21
Obviously a left leaning guy... through most of it i felt he had good constraint, loved the overall ideas he had about polarization... but the last hour or so he just isnt able to control himself and it turns into why Republicans suck and why Democrats are superior....while im not arguing either for or against that, it just kills it for me when something im reading gets biased....towards either side. Overall was pretty good though!
