Excellent resource for Tolkien fans
Revisado: 10-24-24
This book does an excellent job of summarizing the books written by Tolkien himself, as well as books about Tolkien by other scholars. It also has information about the many sub categories of the fandom, online resources, and ways to get involved as a fan.

Historia
In The World of J.R.R. Tolkien, you will join Dr. Dimitra Fimi to delve into Tolkien’s complex and multilayered mythology, examining all these ingredients and more. In these 10 lectures, you will explore and appreciate Middle-earth as medieval, mythological, and modern, a literary creation that was shaped by forces old and new. And you may be surprised to discover just how much of Tolkien’s legendarium was constructed posthumously, with his son Christopher compiling and publishing many of Tolkien’s later works after his death.

So much insight
Revisado: 07-23-24
I have been a Tolkien fan for about 30 years, and read the Silmarillion 3 times in the past 20 years. I watch various YouTube and TikTok channels on Tolkien and listen to every audiobook available. I still learned some new things listening to this series, as well as remembering some forgotten bits. So well done. Engaging and well researched.

Do you love your job? Then this book probably isn't for you. This is poetry for everyone who works to live but doesn't live to work. These are verses of corporate commiseration, bite-size business dread for the alarm clock averse. So help clear your "case of the Mondays" with this set of cynical snipes and sighs and remind yourself you're not alone (even if everybody else went home early).

You can tell the author knows the office grind first hand. Saying the things we all think but never say. Perfect for anyone in a cubicle farm.

A really fun collection of poems. A few that tug the heartstrings, and many that elicit a chuckle. My favs were “Farewell, First Mate”, “Steam Pug”, and the epic tale at the end.

Brain over Binge provides both a gripping personal account and an informative scientific perspective on bulimia and binge eating disorder. The author, Kathryn Hansen, candidly shares her experience as a bulimic and her alternative approach to recovery. Brain over Binge is different from other eating disorder books which typically present binge eating and purging as symptoms of complex emotional and psychological problems.

Rambling but some mythology

Very rambling and switching topics. But does have some mythology in the middle. Clear narrator but he’s not great with Irish names.

Historia
Dublin is the Republic of Ireland's capital and largest city, named from the Irish dubh linn, meaning "black pool". The name comes from the fact that the site of the city was formerly a black, slimy expanse of mud through which the River Liffey flowed sluggishly to the sea. It now has a pleasant setting on the east coast of the Irish Sea, looking out over Dublin Bay, with a long, sandy shoreline to its north.

Dry writing style and just not the info that interests me. The narrator is easy to understand but also dry. I tuned out a lot. Clearly written but put me to sleep.
