Historia
Robert Leckie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January 1942, shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. In Helmet for My Pillow, we follow his odyssey, from basic training on Parris Island, South Carolina, all the way to the raging battles in the Pacific, where some of the war's fiercest fighting took place. Recounting his service with the 1st Marine Division and the brutal action on Guadalcanal, New Britain, and Peleliu, Leckie spares no detail of the horrors and sacrifices of war.

Fills in a LOT of missing details of The Pacific.
Revisado: 06-17-10
I loved the series "The Pacific", but, I could never figure out why after 4 years in the Marine Corp. that Leckie still remained a private! Well, this book will certainly let you know why. Told with emotion, spirit and humor. Makes you love the guy and some of his antics and attitude!

This is truly one of the best books I have heard in years! Senator Kennedy's story shows what a humble man he was. You will get answers to questions that you may have had, for years.

I'm rather disappointed that I listened to "Oprah" on this one. It bored me to tears. I did force myself to finish it, just in case it picked up, but it never did. I'd save my money.

Historia
Dave Robicheaux returns in another Bayou adventure, this one more gruesome and gut-wrenching than any that have come before. Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, leaving the streets and buildings flooded and the city awash with opportunists, looters, and vicious criminals. There is no order, no law. Police are shooting randomly at innocent people, prison guards have abandoned their posts, and bodies float through the streets and hang from trees.

Revisado: 04-18-08
Excellent Story. And the narrator is AWESOME. He captures each and every single character with such authenticity that you can't help being sucked into this story. I've been looking at this audible book for months and I'm glad that I finally decided to listen to it. The story is told with such depth of each character and scene that you don't want to turn it off. I give this one 10 stars.

WORST book I've ever tried to listen to!
Revisado: 10-25-07
This was the worst $9.95 I've ever spent on a book! The story would be good BUT, all it seems to say is "I said", "He said" and "She said". The sentences are 1-5 words long, followed by "I said, she said or He said." And there seems to be an emphasis on those words which makes that the only thing your hearing! Please, DO NOT waste your money on this one! It's awful!

The absolute BEST book I've ever listened to!
Revisado: 10-15-07
You certainly will not go wrong with this book. I have never been so riveted by a book in the 50+ years I have been reading. This book has plenty of suspense and great story line, if not downright scary. (Scary because it has a real possibility of happening.) I found myself getting up in the middle of my sleep to come and listen to another chapter. Never has that happened to me. The story teller is brilliant as well. This is a book that I will listen to again and again.

One of the best I've ever heard or read...
Revisado: 08-24-07
I have literally read or listened to thousands of books. And this is truly one of the best fiction books I've ever read/heard. This is one of the very few books that has kept my full attention and I didn't want it to end. This book has everything in it, suspense, mystery, sex, and so much more. It also enlightened me even more on Vietnam and the Vietnam war. This is worth the read. It is something that I will keep and listen to again. Get it, you won't regret it.

Historia
There isn't much fun in the sun when a billionaire real estate tycoon is found murdered on the Tilt-a-Whirl at a seedy seaside amusement park in the otherwise quiet summer tourist town of Sea Haven. John Ceepak, a former MP just back from Iraq, has just joined the Sea Haven police department. The job offer came from an old Army buddy who hoped to give Ceepak at least a summer's worth of rest and relaxation to help him forget the horrors of war. Instead, Ceepak will head up the murder investigation.

My first book by this man and I absolutely loved it! Very much like CH, but, a style all of his own and a story line that is all his own. I look forward to reading/hearing his other books. You can't go wrong here. Good story line, good narrator, great who done it.
