Yet Another Excellent Connelly Read!

Great story line - as usual! Combining the contrasting Bosh and Haller characters was done perfectly - like going to a Brady v Manning game. But what I appreciated the most was the narration: Peter Giles sells the story; Titus Welliver IS Harry Bosch, and adding the 3rd voice (Christine Larkin) is an Audible game changer.

Mike, my BFF, you are a magician. The seamless way you mix a compelling story line with fascinating (and believable) character development and just the right amount of technical lawyer/cop details keeps me in the story from start to finish.

And in the process, convinces me (again) that I will never make it in the big leagues as a novelist.

Bravo!

SH voice did not play to my image of the real SH.

Some scenarios were unrealistic - Troll viciously whacks woman’s head repeatedly (10x?) with crow bar (did we really need to hear each whack), merely drawing groans and blood trickles. 2 whacks kill - DRT).

Cameron masterfully pens an incredible tale, and Chandler gives it voice, life and, yes, credibility.

MG, as usual, delivered a compelling story. Narrator Adam Gold (don’t remember him) was strong. Handled most of the many character voices smoothly. Particularly liked his just-right tenor changes for the wildly varying dramas - cool steady macho narcos, frantic under-fire operators, desperate cornered and outnumbered good guys and several female characters believably strong in different ways under extreme pressure.

Did I say I really liked the story and the narration?

Vintage Reacher. Typical Lee Child mystery, with plenty of fascinating deep-dive details - yet never distracting from the twisting and riveting story line.

Dick Hill performed well. But his voice pitch, while dramatic and with perfect inflection, doesn’t exactly match the Reacher voice in my mind.

Too many key characters from too many different countries, alternately referencing first and last names. Challenging to follow who’s who. And enough already with the exaggerated and maniacal antagonists spewing way too much grossly sadistic dialog for my likings. Some subtlety would help.

That said, Jericho was as expected - resourseful, irreverent and John Wayne simplistically courageous. Enjoyed Peru, Bolivia jungle realism. Underlying theme of mass destruction believable with just enough technical details to enhance this reader’s understanding of helicopter piloting and nuclear fusion. Enjoyed the read. Some voices were over baked and just plain weird.

Short and very very sweet, with a delicious finale dessert. Porter delivers the perfect voice. Loved the timely McQueen/101 segues. Winslow will surely be an excellent novelist once he expands his talents beyond novellas.

No wait! He’s already done that. My bad.

For starts, an amazing surprise! Discovering a James Bond “prequel”, neatly tucked behind the headline author, Horowitz, one of my favorites.

Story line: classically British, Bondish, and smoothly merged with Flemming’s first novel.

Narration: excellent, if not perfect. French, English. American and Corsican accents carried the day.

Probably a capturing read; certainly a binge-worthy listen.

Well done, Anthony Horowitz and Mathew Goode!
