Historia
Masterfully blending elements of psychological suspense and true crime, Jessica Knoll—bestselling author of Luckiest Girl Alive and the writer behind the Netflix adaptation starring Mila Kunis—delivers an “unflinching and evocative” (Laura Dave, New York Times bestselling author) thriller in Bright Young Women. The book opens on a Saturday night in 1978, hours before a soon-to-be-infamous murderer descends upon a Florida sorority house with deadly results. The lives of those who survive, including a sorority president and key witness, Pamela Schumacher, are forever changed.

Great dual narration
Revisado: 09-29-24
The mix of Pamela and Ruth’s voices make this narration superb. It’s a dark and twisted story that the author brings humanity and a sense of fury to the kinds of injustices heaped upon women.

The accuracy in the depiction of the roller coaster of feelings that occurs in a doomed and dysfunctional relationship
Revisado: 08-26-24
This beautiful story breaks your heart yet at the same time confirms every feeling, thought and frustrating experience of those who saw remnants of themselves in Leah because they too had loved someone destined for destruction

The author’s narrative voice
Revisado: 04-28-24
As a mid-life, divorced mom, so much of Rebecca’s story resonates. I wish I had the courage to explore my sexuality in ways she so openly discusses in this book. And to all of us that have felt trapped in a marriage we should have ended long before it actually did, we stand in solidarity with you girl!

So Wanted to Like This But…
Revisado: 12-29-23
I have had this on my list for a while and was a bit surprised when I saw the less than stellar reviews. But ugh those reviews are right. For me it was that this book just feels like another one with a weak main character that comes across as blame the wife/mom - it’s all her fault all these things are happening. I know that wasn’t the intent of the author because I listened to an interview with her about the book and how she came up with the idea. But the way it reads is so disappointing for a main female character in 2023.

Funny, Bold and Empowering
Revisado: 12-01-21
As someone in her early 40s in the middle of a divorce, this book made me realize that the strong feelings of desire I have, and wanting to be desired in return, aren’t so taboo afterall. The entire book was fantastic, and the epilogue may have been my favorite part! Talk about a happy ending - a woman knowing her worth and the terms on which she is going to live the rest of her life!!
