Stories that ring true and are told well are great treasures
Revisado: 03-14-24
Cameron Winter stories are an extraordinary mix of psychology, philosophy, tension and triumph. I doubt they will ever get the attention they deserve because the author is so unfashionable, but fans can rest content in the fact that whatever positive attention they get is well earned.

Historia
When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity. Cloning, feel-good drugs, anti-aging programs, and total social control through politics, programming, and media: has Aldous Huxley accurately predicted our future? With a storyteller's genius, he weaves these ethical controversies in a compelling narrative that dawns in the year 632 A.F. (After Ford, the deity). When Lenina and Bernard visit a savage reservation, we experience how Utopia can destroy humanity.

An essential classic performed with excellence.
Revisado: 10-25-19
I had only read excerpts of this classic in the past and turned to audio for an unabridged version. I can't imagine that reading it on my own would have been a better experience. I listened to sections of this (the hospital for the dying and the trio's trip to "the principal's office") multiple times and was exceptionally grateful for the characterizations that really brought the dialogue to life, making it all the easier to carefully digest and commit to memory.

Historia
One of the most influential philosophers and theologians in the history of Western thought, St Thomas Aquinas established the foundations for much of modern philosophy of religion, and is famous for his arguments for the existence of God. In this cogent and multifaceted introduction to the great saint's work, Edward Feser argues that you cannot fully understand Aquinas' philosophy without his theology, and vice-versa. He covers Aquinas' thoughts on the soul, natural law, metaphysics, and more.

Aquinas certainly deserves more attention!

And Feser presents him with that value right up front. His writing is clear, concise and relatable. I loved this book! In fact, I've listened to it twice now.

Well-considered wisdom is worth consideration.
Revisado: 04-02-19
I don't know if Jordan Peterson is a sage for the ages, but he is certainly a wise man for our age. Much is said about him in culture and media, but he deserves the attention of the individual. Take the time to listen. It's likely to help in one way or another.

If all Christian art was this good...
Revisado: 12-14-18
...it would all simply be called art.
I'm a pastor, yet I rarely read Christian memoirs, and I never read Christian novels or watch Christian movies. I dislike them with considerable intensity. I totally got it when Andrew Klavan prayed, "Please, God, don't let me become a Christian novelist."
This book is excellent, visceral and honest. I loved it. no doubt I will listen to it again. I will be recommending it regularly. Listen to this book. Everyone should.
