Waste of Time
Revisado: 11-18-19
I couldn't finish this book. It had no substance; it was just the ramblings of the writer that had no background or inspiration. It was a pitiful attempt at examining the history of women.

I usually like Sandra Brown books, but I couldn't get through this one.
Has Best Kept Secrets turned you off from other books in this genre?

How could the performance have been better?
Dick Hill would do better to just read instead of doing simpering female voices.
What character would you cut from Best Kept Secrets?
The entire cast!

If you like romance with homey overtones then you will like this book. As usual in Roberts romances the men are all handsome and manly with unbelievable romantic notions. The heroine is lovely and brave with a spot of vulnerability. Everything turns out perfect in the end...but that's okay because that's what some of us like in our fantasies!

From the celebrated author of The Secret Life of Bees, a magnificent novel about two unforgettable American women. Writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts, Sue Monk Kidd presents a masterpiece of hope, daring, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world - and it is now the newest Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection. Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

The author places an interesting twist on the Merlin legend. It is a bit lame in the entire goddess section, but redeemed itself at the end.
