The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

Even with a new narrator, it still feels Like Jake. Gives enough to chew on without feeling like it s to much. End with great promise of more to come.

I wish it was better
Revisado: 02-25-22
Ok, so blunt and honest, this book was bad. Personally I have an issue when a book is written in 1st person. Not many people can write a 1st person view point that we'll and this one DOES NOT do well. The ideas:solid, the characters:different and unique, the MC: I hated him.
By the 2nd half of the book I kept thinking "STOP COMPLAINING " And it was driving me up the wall. And there were many moments where there was TELLING without SHOWING.
The last thing that annoyed me, I was able to jump MANY chapters toward the end and it felt like I missed NOTHING.

hours. so yes, the harem element is annoying, no arguments there. It's bad, like, Star Trek Captain Kirk bad. It wouldn't be nearly as bad if there was a basic relationship to act as a foundation, but that takes to long. I hope it gets better.
Also, the biggest gripe I have is the author makes it so every side character has faults, but doesn't allow the MC to have any faults. Why is he making potions and no one else? Because only HE can think of a contingency plan in advance. Why is he talking to npc's? Because only HE can be the one to treat them like they have more to offer. It's gotten to the point where I don't care about the side characters AT ALL. In the first three books it felt like they were getting their feet wet and they (the side characters) would try and expand how they interact with the world. Well that hasn't happened at all, the entire book everyone but MC has treated the npc's like they were in other games, even though they KNOW things adapt in this world and the npc's can adapt as well. The fact that the side characters don't learn is terrible.
The last gripe I have is the damn grandstanding. there were times where I skipped ahead because another speech was coming on. usually it would take a 2-3 minute skip to get the story back on track. And every time, it's the same things he went over in the last book, "I stand up to bullies" , "I don't put up with that shit", "I care when nobody else soes". It's to the level now I would consider it 'white-knighting'. Because besides him, NO ONE, is allowed to be a decent person, except his CLOSEST friends, but they aren't as good of people as him.
I'm going to try one more book, but I can't stand another dumpster fire like this.

While running recon on his people’s ancestral home, he discovers that failing his Nightmare quests means more than just losing his NPCs; it means the fall of the entire region. To stop the wave of destruction and complete his quest, Jason will have to find a way to take on a horde of goblins, numbering in the thousands. If that wasn’t challenging enough, Jason’s longtime nemeses are making their move to take over the server.

kind of a dip in writing.
Revisado: 10-24-21
Maybe Spoiler ahead. so the story, generally speaking, is solid. Can't argue that. what detracts from the book is the constant side exposition of why MC is special/different from everyone else in the moment. This is a big problem when your in the middle of a fight and he starts talking about a past relationship. The last thing that frustrated me are the relationship settings. whenever he's with a girl, there is almost 2 paragraphs on WHY he's treating her the way he is. It's alot of telling without showing that just slows down the flow.
will read the next book. Just hope there is less grandstanding in the next book.

The curse is broken
Revisado: 10-06-21
so as a rule of thumb, Nick Pohdel has been given many audio books that have just sucked. so for a long time I avoided his work like the plague. not because he is bad at his job, he's quite talented, but the scripts he was given just made you want to hit your head against a wall.
this book is solid, but not extraordinary. the reader is good and it does a good job feeding the listener information without having to slow down the pace.
would recommend to a friend.

Waking up to discover the apocalypse had begun, and to find that I was no longer human, was not how I thought my day would go. But then again, I supposed I was thankful to just have another day to begin with, considering I’d apparently been a mindless monster for the last several months. The city was a mess, with many buildings destroyed by massive black towers that rose into the sky like enormous thorns. And yet, despite all this, I was about to discover that the monsters and bizarre landscape weren’t the strangest things about the apocalypse.

Generic praise!!! wohoo!!!
Revisado: 08-24-21
Such a good book. Such a good story... OK now that that is out of the way, I want to share some pros and cons of the story. So if you aren't into review bombs, read another review.
So some pros:
Interesting plot angle
voice actors are fun to listen to(mostly)
Tries to be smarter with litrpg element
First 1/2 of the book is solid
the main female sidekick is fun and witty
new way of "leveling up" which felt fresh
Some (most) Cons:
the cring-iest moments of white knight-ing and being a tsundere, almost in the same breath.
The main protagonist keeps saying "shit" and "damn it" constantly toward the end it try and build up emotion/suspension (?) and it just makes the book feel like a downgrade in quality
There is a subplot towards the end that just felt unnecessary and felt like the author was putting it in to try and pluck some emotional strings more than anything else.
Disappointed how putting points it "connections " turned the main character from a badass monster who follows through in violence, to not.
This book is 3 stars because the voice actors were great, 5 stars. the story just felt lackluster by the end.

Just a little sniggle.
Revisado: 08-10-21
So all in all: good. good writing, nice growth, interesting story.
I liked the characters, they were memorable, fun and relatable. The plot was a good one, it sent our heroes out to do something MEANINGFUL,and it made sense. Growth was good as well. they grew as characters and their relationships with each other, that feels like a point that doesn't get explored enough. Wonderful job.
The reason for 4/5 is kind of petty.
The only thing thatis annoying is the constant imput of extreme description with. "It hurt more than anything he'd ever felt in his life" and "the worst pain imaginable", or some things simular keep cropping up. Every time the author wants to heighten a scene it seems like he give these generic description more often than not. The only thing that I want the author to tweak in the next book is his descriptive language.
Other than that, this is a solid piece of work.
