Twists throughout
Revisado: 05-16-24
When your jaw drops in the middle of the book, you know it's going to be good. I did not anticipate a lot of the twists. It kept my rapt attention right to the end.

Quick tie-up to storylines
Revisado: 06-17-23
It was more of a romance than how I interpreted the synopsis. One page and the mystery of the book was tied up in a bow. Left me a little flat at the end.

Historia
We all live like we’re famous now, curating our social media presences, performing our identities, withholding those parts of ourselves we don’t want others to see. In this riveting collection of stories from acclaimed author Jess Walter, a teenage girl tries to live up to the image of her beautiful, missing mother. An elderly couple confronts the fiction writer eavesdropping on their conversation.

Climate lectures and political digs
Revisado: 10-31-22
Some of these short stories were pretty good and the narration was excellent. The derision for conservatives was evident in areas and the constant thread of climate lectures assure I will never read anything else by this author. I read fiction to get away from the reality of my every day, not compound it.

Spineless lead.
Revisado: 08-14-22
The reader's voice had a weird inflection that annoyed me. Spineless female lead. It wasn't what I thought it would be. The story wasn't as deep as I was hoping. Just not for me.

Well read. An unexpected twist. Just the right combo of human interest and mystery for me.

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.

A great story with twists and turns that keeps you guessing until the end. The narration makes it easy to understand which character is talking.

Historia
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.
