Not great
Revisado: 05-02-23
An easy listen but really predictable and (SPOILER ALERT) I nearly stopped listening when Jake didn't take the opportunity to tell Dani even a little bit of what he'd found out. Not even the name of the dude that had his daughter? Nah, too unbelievable. The narration is the only thing that kept me in it.

Historia
A family is murdered as they sleep. FBI Special Agent Nina Guerrera and her new team are tasked with determining whether there is any link between this attack and another triple homicide from four years earlier and more than 2,000 miles away. In the process, they’ll discover a serial killer so cunning that his grisly trail of death spanning nearly three decades has gone undetected. Each crime scene reminds Nina of the ghostly Latin folktale of La Llorona, which terrified her when she was an abandoned and vulnerable child. Now it’s back to haunt her.

Kept my interest but...
Revisado: 08-21-22
It was difficult to stick through to the end primarily because the narrator's voice doesn't invoke images of "The Warrior." She does a great job narrorating, she's just not well cast for the role of Nina Guerrera.

Historia
Ten years ago, the Harper family disappeared. Their deserted cottage was left with the water running, the television playing cartoons, the oven ready for baking. The doors were locked from the inside. Overnight, the sleepy village of Nighbrook became notorious as the scene of the unsolved mystery of the decade, an epicentre for ghoulish media speculation. For crime journalist Naomi, solving the case has turned into an obsession. So now, with Ivy Cottage finally listed for sale, it’s her chance to mount an investigation like no other.

Even better
Revisado: 02-05-22
I'm a fan of Mr. Dugoni's and can truly say I've enjoyed every one of his books with The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell being my favorite - until now. From the first page, I was immediately and entirely invested in this journey. It's heartbreaking and tragic with just enough hope and light to keep you going. Keep the box of tissue nearby for this one.

Revisado: 09-29-21
This may very well be a brilliantly written book but I'll never know. I made just through the prologue and can't tolerate the narrator's tone, inflection (lack thereof), and pace any longer.
