Disappointed compared to TV Show
Revisado: 02-27-23
I waited through the whole thing for her to become the heroine of the story. Instead she is mopey and drab, described in great detail. Excellent writing, transported into the dystopian world. I was left feeling flat and unfinished I wanted greatness and was left with boredom.

Historia
The tradition of Victorian mourning jewelry began with Queen Victoria after the death of her husband, Prince Albert. Without photography, mementos of personal remembrance were used to honor the dead so that their loved ones could commemorate their memory and keep their spirits close. Ashes were placed within rings, and necklaces were made out of hair, and the concept of death photography, small portraits of the deceased, were often encased behind glass. Wytovich's poetry explores the horror that breeds inside of the lockets, the quiet terror that hides in the center of the rings.

This book seemed like it could have really been great but the preformer gives everyone the same voice so everyone sounds like a man. The narration flip flopping was more annoying than entertaining. It did have good twists that kept you guessing. Might be a better book read than read-aloud

Historia
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret - at least, that’s what she thinks.... But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

This was a decent performance but the story is absolutely fantastic!!! I often listen to audible while at work and this story was able to keep me interested and not just playing as background. I will totally be diving head first into the rest of this series.

Detective Nik Pohl knows there must be a missing link, but every time he gets close to the answer people show up hurt, or worse.... The kidnappings must be connected. Could it be the recent property scandal that one young girl’s father is embroiled in, or something even bigger?

Hello, I have both the Kindle and the Audible of this book. I definitely remember more about the story when I read visually - but the narration was so good that after the first day - I found myself drawn in more and more. I am now glad when I have the time to devote to the Kindle option I can read it again down the road. But for when I want to listen I have this amazing audible option. Highly recommended. And if you have not read the first Nik Pohl Thriller you should!!

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.

I needed something to focus on while I proctored an exam online. This was a great way to pass the time and learn a bit about an amazing scientist. Recommended for similar situations - I doubt I would give it my sole attention.

I love this series. So glad to find a short novella. Didn't have the time to listen to an entire novel but it was good to dive back in. And I have missed Oberon :)

Historia
Although Bertrand Russell did most of his early work (along with his mentor and colleague Alfred North Whitehead) in mathematics, he had an enormously wide range of interests - from politics to sex education for the young. The following two essays - "Mysticism and Logic" and "Mathematics and the Metaphysicians" - provide listeners with a glimpse into Russell's thinking and, in turn, illuminates us about these deep subjects.

Love how it says optional but it is required....
Revisado: 12-14-20
Bertrand Russell is my favorite original mathematician. My modern day favorite being Hannah Fry - of whom I highly recommend. I enjoyed listening to this audible. I will probably listen to more of Russell's work. I see why he is considered more of a philosopher but I still love his approach to mathematics and logic.
