Historia
The world is going insane: A new recreational technology from Euphoria Incorporated takes society to extremes never seen before, and a strange movement known as The Assembly of Balderdash gains uncanny power that no one can explain. Growing up in the ghetto of Cincinnati decades earlier, Amira Steele didn't think she was anyone special...but little did she know that her childhood crisis of conscience would eventually lead her to the very center of the world stage.

Orwell would be proud—this is the perfect prophecy / warning for 2024
Revisado: 09-05-24
Along with great character building and a fantastic collision of many interesting plot lines, it’s highly readable, funny, and absolutely perfect—a chilling warning—for 2024. From Euphoria to the Assembly of Balderdash to the rest…HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Historia
The Shadow Club starts simply enough: the kids who are tired of being second-best get together and, for the first time, talk about how they feel. But soon the members decide to play practical jokes on the first-place winners they envy, and things begin to spin dangerously out of control.

Real steaks, weak characters
Revisado: 08-25-24
No character development, but short and intense enough that it was still a decent read.

Great Sci-Fi, Great Character and Sense of Place
Revisado: 08-17-24
Sandy and her life in Wyoming were very realistic and interesting. It really puts you there, and makes you care about her story. What comes later is obviously sci-fi but still very believable in its way, and one of the more interesting and character-based stories of this kind that I know of.

Historia
The literary world was shocked when, in 1890, at the height of his career, Robert Louis Stevenson announced his intention to settle permanently in Samoa. His readers were equally shocked when he began to use the subject material offered by his new environment not to promote a romance of empire but to produce some of the most ironic and critical treatments of imperialism in 19th-century fiction.

One great story, others so so
Revisado: 06-11-24
The Bottle Imp may be the greatest short story of all time. Everything else is below Stevenson’s standards, though there are bits of good things.

If only they can be interpreted correctly.

Boring and Pointless and beyond all possible belief
Revisado: 02-29-24
Terrible, pointless, uninteresting, and barely BARELY connected to Ember at all. I truly don’t understand why this book was written or how it was published.

Historia
Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Incredible Start, Ultimately Disappointing
Revisado: 02-08-23
I was super excited when the book started. It was a great build-up, so much potential for an all-time great story. The conclusion, however, was disappointing. The second half of the book was entirely unsurprising, and fell far short of the expectations that had been set early on.

Historia
There are still countless tales of the Scythedom to tell. Centuries passed between the Thunderhead cradling humanity and Scythe Goddard trying to turn it upside down. For years humans lived in a world without hunger, disease, or death with Scythes as the living instruments of population control. Neal Shusterman—along with collaborators David Yoon, Jarrod Shusterman, Sofía Lapuente, Michael H. Payne, Michelle Knowlden, and Joelle Shusterman—returns to the world throughout the timeline of the Arc of a Scythe series.

Most of the narrators are terrible, only a few stories are good
Revisado: 02-01-23
Tremblay is a good narrator; not great, but definitely good. Most of the others are horrible! I liked the story about Carson (I won’t say any more, to avoid spoilers), and a couple other really short ones, but most of them were really pointless and lame.
