Standing out from the rest of the story, which is really not bad, is the "relationship" between the two main characters. The unrestrained vitriol between them, especially from the male to the female, was so poisonous I almost stopped listening. It felt like unresolved, real-life author anger coming out in his characters, and not in a healthy way. It didn't advance the story, but bogged it down in endless rounds of hatefulness and recrimination. Upon reflection, all the characters were pretty two dimensional, but the women had virtually no redeeming characteristics, being written as either cold and hard, opportunistically sexualized, or weak and whiny. The last, a teenager, does have qualities of empathy, compassion, and some degree of clarity, so "misogyny" is probably too strong a word, but one can see it from here.

Fantastic Story and Performance

Characterization and conscience, expertly written and incredibly voiced by a master narrator. My only wish is that it were longer! I look forward to listening to the other stories in Tchaikovsky's "Terrible Worlds: Revolutions" collection, and will definitely be looking for narrator Adjoa Andoh's other work. A fantastic pairing of story and telling!

Favorite So Far

I have been enjoying all the episodes in this series, but this is by far my favorite. It is both light and earnest, accessible for German learners and substantial in content. Narration and sound effects are again spot on. Excellent!

I love this story!

I'm enjoying the story so much -- the characters, the situations, learning about each location, and especially the humor -- that I want to speed onto the next installment before fully understanding the current one! The sound effects are super helpful for understanding, context, and a sense of being part of the story, while also not being intrusive, obnoxious, or overdone. This is such a good fit for me on my German learning journey. Thank you, Andrê Klein!

Highly Original... and Timely

Richly interesting in both conception and execution, I can only imagine the low reviews of this story were written by those who didn't read very far. I did find the beginning slow and somewhat unpromising, thinking I might be reading fantasy rather than sci-fi, and a fantasy thriller at that, but no. This is imaginative, emotionally intelligent, topically meaningful sci-fi all the way, and I'm so glad I stuck with it.

So Well Done

This series is beautifully acted, directed, and orchestrated. I enjoyed it thoroughly! Occasionally the sound effects were a little on the nose, but 95% of the time they helped bring the tales to life. Highly recommended.

Exploring Meaning and Its Expression

Dan is thoughtful, articulate and creative in his avenues of exploration. His interviews and guests are both interesting and substantial, and I'm especially appreciating his latest trend of taking the road less traveled, speaking with guests who might not fit the more podcast-typical entrepreneur/influencer demographic. Highly recommended.

Masterful Storytelling

Ben Winters weaves stories that are thoroughly engaging, psychologically astute, and deeply compassionate. The further we proceed into the world of The Last Policeman, the more beautifully and complexly true this becomes. I cannot wait to read the final installment.
