Whining.
Revisado: 08-17-23
I love this series. I just have one gripe.
Characters whining and throwing tantrums.
It starts during this book and continues in the following books.
Almost every character conflict is just someone being a big whiny baby and it rarely leads to anything.
(╥﹏╥)

This is isekai done right.
Revisado: 02-18-23
The main character's power comes mostly from clever skill usage rather than just being OP at everything.
She keeps her secrets close to her heart creating a lot of tension from being all secretive.
She doesn't let all the powerful people bully her into crap, but rather does her own thing and takes risks.
Whenever the story starts getting slow something happens and it picks up again.
Her past life is relevant, but not in the way that's done to death where they just invent a beehive or some bs.
The litrpg aspect is also done well.
Litrpg and isekai nowdays go pretty much hand in hand.
The skill/magic system is prevalent and interesting, but we aren't constantly being read stat numbers.
These abilities have a lot of nuance in how they can be used rather than a skill doing a very specific thing.
Rpg elements are powerful starting from low levels. A skill is instantly useful even at low levels.
Same with character levels. A level 5 person is a powerful being.
So basically we instantly get into the good stuff and the story keeps being good throughout.
I've read hundreds of isekai stories (mostly in manga form). Highly recommend this one.

Genius teen baby writing hack
Revisado: 02-06-23
The author is cheating with this fast growing baby nonsense.
We all love a good genius kid fantasy story, but this goober is trying to have it more than both ways.
He is a genius 3 year old baby.
Also a talented teen magician.
Also an reincarnated adult mind.
Having these teen babies mingling with actual teens is just weird.
Him being 3 years old is barely ever relevant to anything anyway so why do it this way?
Loved the book tho 5/5.

More action, a lot of it lacklustre.
Revisado: 02-06-23
In the first book there wasn't much action which worked for the benefit of it, because as much as we hear about the magic/aura system it's not very well explained when it comes to how it would work practically in a fight.
This second book has a lot more action and a lot of it feels stretched and unexciting.
Often we have a fight in an environment that we know nothing about against an enemy that we only know the name of.
Then our hero casts some spells that we may or may not have seen before that have very varying effects that we don't know how many can be cast and what kind of damage could be expected. And the rest of the party swing weapons, but with all the same problems of ambiguity.
Don't get me wrong i still love this series and will get the next book, it's just that half of the action feels like filler.

Conflicted.
Revisado: 11-21-22
While i did enjoy this book and will most likely get the next one in the series the story has completely lost it's direction.
The game has completely been thrown to the sidelines to all the harem "romance" drama. Worse than that it's mostly just the downsides of a harem while the upsides are glanced over.
It's ridiculous that the mc is supposedly still leading the pack while wasting all the time doing nothing of value,
I don't know why i like this book it's kinda bad tbh.

Overrated.
Revisado: 06-09-22
This is the third adaption of this story i've consumed and i don't really see why people hype it up so much. It's okay, but that's it.
Basically the story is 50% about exploring the fantasy world and 50% about the mc getting bullied.
The exploring part feels rather fillery because everything about the world is left just a bit too vague to be interesting.
Skills, magic, crafting, business and all that stuff. We hear a lot about it, but the setting up of things is left so vague that when or if there comes a time for payoff it tends to feel hollow.
The bullying part feels frustrating for the wrong reasons imo. Generally the mc doesn't say a single word in his own defense. Even when blamed with obvious lies he just takes it and whines about it later. The mc acts like he's being greatly oppressed, but the consequences of the bullying are rather tame.
That's the first volume. Latter volumes are more of the same, but the story also starts to lose what little focus it had.
Also the narration isn't nearly as bad as the reviews might have you believe.

Quality podcast
Revisado: 02-14-22
Watching every episode of the show and then the corresponding podcast episode greatly enhanced my experience of both.
Ed Gamble does a great job hosting the podcast. He has a good voice for audio based media and he does a good job of interviewing the guests.
Some of the guests are dreadfully dull. Mostly it's just when it's some non-contestant rando. Not enough to ruin episodes, but still kinda bad. Stat-guy is great tho more stat guy pls.
Also sometimes the musical interludes are blasting way too loud. I found myself having to often adjust the volume on those.
Good stuff tho 5/5 would listen again.

The game is bad.
Revisado: 02-04-22
This story focuses around a game of which all the characters are obsessing about.
But the game is just not that good. I play a lot of games so to me this undermines most of the character motivations as the game is dreadfully dull. If you can overlook this you'll probably find this far more enjoyable than i did, but for me it constantly breaks any immersion.
There is seemingly nothing to do in the game yet characters are waiting around waiting for our MC to show up staring at walls i guess.
The subtext of criticizing pay to win mechanics could be interesting, but it feels like it's just used to define the MC as the underdog.

A hot mess.
Revisado: 02-04-22
I'd like to preface this by stating that i gave up on it fairly quickly listening to roughly third of it so there might be some chance of it turning better later on.
Major plot points and the progression of the story feels rather contrived most of the time.
This is very much a power fantasy, but the magic and fighting rules are lazily defined.
Girls are lusting for MC right from the start without just cause.
The whole thing to me feels like it's just smut with a lot of filler. The filler being story/characters/magic/crafting etc.
